Job Description Physical Therapy Contingent – Days 9AM to 5PM Must be able to work 2 Saturdays or Sundays per month and a few weekdays per month. Role/Position Definition Provides physical therapy services to patients impaired by physical dysfunction, including assessment, treatment planning and implementation of the treatment plan based on the functional needs of the patient. Provides supervision for PTA and students. Qualifications Education and Experience: Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Therapy from an accredited school required. 2+ years of PT experience preferred. Licensure: Current unrestricted Physical Therapist licensure from the State of Michigan required. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Physical ability to bend, position and transfer patients and exert forces up to 70 lbs. Ability to react effectively to the needs of patients and families. Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to exercise professional judgment and initiative when analyzing problems and recommending solutions. Duties and Responsibilities Conduct screenings and evaluations to determine the patient’s physical status. Develop and implement treatment plans to reach the patient’s highest potential for independence. Provide direct patient care to facilitate the restoration of physical and functional abilities. Check, instruct, assign, review, and supervise the work of the Physical Therapy Assistants and students. Participate in patient care conferences, program development and screenings as appropriate. Complete appropriate documentation and adhere to policies, procedures and current standards of clinical practice. Provide documentation in a legible manner to maintain the quality of the medical record as it relates to reimbursement guidelines, accuracy and facility requirements. Participate in team and family conferences as necessary. Provide in‑services to other staff members on physical therapy as it relates to patient care. Coordinate with the Occupational Therapist to ensure the patient has the appropriate equipment while in the facility and for discharge home. Perform home evaluations to ensure the patient’s home environment is conducive for a safe discharge plan. Adhere to professional standards of practice of the APTA for Physical Therapists. Promote current standards of clinical practice through taking part in continuing education and in‑service programs. Participate in program development.
