General Production Worker

The General Production Worker supports day-to-day production operations by palletizing and shrink wrapping products, cleaning and sanitizing workstations, and moving materials throughout the facility. This role involves operating manual pallet jacks, weighing products before they are moved to the warehouse, and accurately reading and recording digital weights on small scales. The position requires frequent handling of filled bags weighing up to 50 pounds and pushing or pulling large wheeled bowls that can weigh up to 1,000 pounds. This is a physically demanding role that plays a key part in maintaining smooth, safe, and efficient production in a food manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Palletize finished product and apply shrink wrap to secure loads for storage and shipment.
• Clean and sanitize workstations and surrounding areas to maintain a hygienic production environment.
• Move product and materials using a manual pallet jack in a safe and controlled manner.
• Weigh products prior to transfer to the warehouse and ensure accurate measurements.
• Read and record digital weights from small scales with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Handle and move filled bags that can weigh up to 50 pounds, following company policies for team lifts when weights exceed 50 pounds.
• Push and pull wheeled bowls weighing up to 1,000 pounds, consistently moving at least eight bowls per shift.
• Work efficiently on production lines, supporting assembly, packaging, and general production tasks as needed.
• Follow established safety procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) at all times.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and compliant work area, including proper use of required protective clothing and equipment.
• Participate in on-site orientation and follow instructions from supervisors and team leads.
• Adapt to varying temperatures within the facility and remain productive in physically demanding conditions.

Essential Skills

• Recent experience working in a general labor, construction, manufacturing, or similar general labor environment within the last 5 years.
• At least 1 year of continuous employment with the same company within the last 5 years, demonstrating reliability and commitment.
• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to 812 hours per shift.
• Capability to lift and move bags weighing up to 50 pounds and to perform team lifts for heavier items in accordance with company policy.
• Comfort working in a physically demanding role that involves pushing and pulling heavy, wheeled equipment weighing up to 1,000 pounds.
• Basic understanding of production, assembly, packaging, and general manufacturing processes.
• Ability to read and accurately record digital weights and other production data.
• Commitment to following safety procedures and good manufacturing practices (GMPs).

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Background in production line work, general labor, assembly, packaging, or food production.
• Experience in machine operation or food manufacturing environments.
• Familiarity with manufacturing and food production standards and practices.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Willingness to complete a 34 hour on-site orientation and comply with facility-specific policies.
• Ability to work effectively in a small, close-knit team setting.

Work Environment

The role is based in a small-town, family-like production facility with around 30 full-time employees. Safety and good manufacturing practices (GMPs) are central to daily operations, and employees must consistently follow established procedures. The environment is a food manufacturing setting, where cleanliness, hygiene, and adherence to strict policies are required. The dress code includes steel-toed boots, hair net, eye protection, jeans, shirt, bump cap, and lab coat. Employees must comply with GMP-related rules such as no smoking or tobacco products on site, no perfume or cologne, no fingernail polish, no jewelry or piercings, and wearing clothing free of rips, tears, holes, or embellishments. Temperatures can be high in the summer, with some manufacturing rooms reaching up to 90 degrees, while conditions are more comfortable in the winter. New hires complete an on-site orientation lasting 34 hours, and depending on shift schedules, may begin work on the same day or at a later time as communicated in advance.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Albert Lea, MN.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $19.50/hr.
