Job Description
The Registered Nurse (RN) will provide comprehensive nursing services within a correctional healthcare setting while ensuring compliance with New York State nursing standards, facility policies, and applicable regulatory requirements. The RN will be responsible for conducting nursing assessments, administering medications and treatments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, monitoring patient health status, and collaborating with multidisciplinary treatment teams to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities
• Conduct comprehensive nursing assessments and obtain, document, and update individuals' health information, medical histories, and vital signs using established nursing standards and procedures. • Prepare individuals for medical examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments while assisting healthcare providers as needed. • Administer prescribed medications, treatments, and nursing procedures in accordance with physician orders, facility policies, and established nursing protocols. • Develop, implement, evaluate, and modify individualized nursing care plans based on patient assessments and clinical needs. • Provide clinical supervision, instruction, and guidance to direct care staff regarding nursing care activities, delegated procedures, and patient care responsibilities. • Observe, monitor, document, and evaluate individuals' symptoms, physical conditions, dietary intake, physical activity, and responses to medications or treatments. • Identify changes in health status and promptly communicate significant findings to the appropriate healthcare providers. • Serve as the nursing representative on multidisciplinary treatment teams by providing clinical input and coordinating patient care with physicians and other healthcare professionals. • Participate in clinical rounds to assess patient needs and evaluate the quality and

effectiveness of nursing services provided. • Provide health education, counseling, and wellness promotion to individuals, families, and other groups, and assist in developing health improvement initiatives. • Implement infection prevention and control policies while providing education and consultation to facility staff regarding infection control practices. • Maintain accurate and timely medical records, nursing documentation, charts, and reports in accordance with agency, State, and Federal requirements. • Collect clinical data and participate in activities supporting healthcare quality improvement and medical research initiatives, when applicable. • Monitor inventories of medications, medical supplies, equipment, and solutions to ensure adequate resources for patient care. • Assist with scheduling activities, provide information to nurse supervisors, and contribute to performance evaluations and required operational reports as assigned. • Perform additional nursing duties and responsibilities necessary to support facility healthcare operations.

Work Schedule & Conditions
• Schedule: Monday - Friday • Available Shifts:
• 6:00 AM - 2:00 PM
• 2:00 PM - 10:00 PM
• 10:00 PM - 6:00 AM • Overtime: Required as needed • Travel: Not required • Holidays: Required to work New York State holidays as scheduled

Facility Information
• Marcy Correctional Facility is a New York State correctional institution providing comprehensive healthcare services to the incarcerated population. • Registered Nurses work collaboratively with physicians, nurse supervisors, and multidisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure high-quality patient care within a secure correctional environment. • The position requires sound clinical judgment, strong assessment skills, and the ability to provide nursing care in a structured and security-conscious setting.

Qualifications & Requirements
• Licensed and currently registered to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of New York. • Strong clinical assessment, medication administration, and patient care skills. • Experience in correctional healthcare, medical-surgical, behavioral health, emergency

nursing, long-term care, or other acute care settings preferred. • Knowledge of nursing care planning, infection prevention and control practices, and healthcare documentation standards. • Ability to supervise and delegate nursing activities appropriately to direct care staff. • Excellent communication, organizational, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills. • Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary healthcare teams while exercising sound clinical judgment. • Commitment to patient safety, regulatory compliance, confidentiality, and professional nursing standards.

Background Check Requirements
• Must successfully complete all facility-required background investigations, credential verification, and security clearances prior to assignment.

Vaccination & Medical Requirements
• Must meet all facility-required medical clearance and health screening requirements prior to assignment.

Required Training
• Facility-specific orientation and mandatory training will be provided prior to the start of the assignment.

Additional Information
• Four (4) Registered Nurse positions are available. • Candidates must be available to work any of the designated shifts based on facility operational needs. • Overtime may be required to maintain continuity of patient care and meet staffing requirements. • The selected candidate will work in a secure correctional healthcare environment and must comply with all facility security procedures and professional practice standards. • Additional responsibilities and facility-specific expectations will be discussed during the interview and onboarding process.
