Job Description

Responsible for creating a comprehensive estimate of damages for 1st and 3rd party material damage claims leading to the proper disposition. This role is utilized as a peer mentor having mastered our processes and obtained technical expertise.

National General is seeking a Material Damage Specialist to evaluate and resolve 1st and 3rd party auto physical damage claims. In this role, you will inspect damages, prepare comprehensive repair estimates, negotiate settlements, and ensure compliance with fair claims practices and company policies.

Depending on experience level, candidates may also serve as a technical resource and mentor to peers, leveraging advanced estimating expertise to support complex material damage losses. This position is fully remote for candidates residing in Los Angeles, Orange County, or surrounding areas in California.

Preferred Experience:

• Auto physical damage claims handling

• Writing and reviewing vehicle repair estimates

• 1st and 3rd party material damage claims

• Negotiating claim settlements and managing complex files

• Knowledge of estimating platforms (CCC, Mitchell, Audatex, etc.)

• Strong customer service, communication, and problem-solving skills

• Prior field estimating or material damage appraisal experience preferred

Key Responsibilities

• Interprets regulatory compliance and fair claims practices

• Negotiates settlements, makes settlement payments and documents all activities in the most complex of files

• Applies mastered content in interpretations of all policy types written by the company and assists leadership in formal and ad hoc training

• Exhibits mastery estimating fundamentals in order to create estimates of damages on 1st and 3rd party material damage losses of all severities

• Builds mastered relationships with both internal and external customers

Supervisory Responsibilities

• This job does not have supervisory duties.

As a requirement of employment, individuals who currently hold an active insurance license must terminate all existing appointments prior to onboarding and must not hold any outside appointments at any point during employment. Applicants seeking an adjuster role who also hold a resident producer license must formally surrender that license when instructed to by the licensing team. Compensation

Base compensation offered for this role is:

Field Adjuster Cons I: $26.49 – $40.99/hour
Field Adjuster Cons II: $28.03 – $43.70/hour
Field Adjuster Sr. Cons I: $35.82 – $50.24/hour

Compensation is based on experience and qualifications. Total compensation for this role may include additional components, such as incentive pay (for example, commission or bonus), if applicable.
