Director of Strategic Planning and Projects - Home Entertainment

As Director of Strategic Planning and Projects this position will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Home Entertainment. This person will be responsible for helping to craft, document, and oversee timely execution of strategic initiatives and ongoing projects across the Home Entertainment Division. To be successful in this position, not only will you need to act as an individual contributor, but also exercise influence and command respect from peers to deliver projects cross-functionally from your peer group.

Provide Strategic Analyses & Thought Leadership to Top Management

Analyze external and internal business environment and current business status to strategically identify critical issues and develop responsive strategies to set the course of action. Manage to sense risks preemptively by researching and analyzing industry, technology, consumer trends and economic and political environment changes and implement analyzing how these factors will impact on our company. Manage to examine risk factors based on internal and external environmental changes and implement identifying areas and issues that need to be addressed strategically.

• Support and apply in-depth strategic insights and thought leadership on electronics industry, channel, and consumer trends
• Provide business updates, KPI dashboards and preparing strategic business presentations to both local and global leadership
• Monitoring key market developments that can influence SEA business (competitor, macroeconomic, etc.)
• Extracting insights from open (media reports, market reports, government data, expert interviews) and internal sources (business performance and P&L reports, etc.)
• Data analytics financial, macroeconomic) and variance analysis
• Data synthesis and interpretation (assessing key change drivers)
• Data forecasting (e.g., using regressions, predictive modeling)
• Preparing C-level reports communicating findings in a succinct and visual manner

Lead Strategy Development
Develop action plans to strengthen competitiveness based on assessment of internal competencies and processes. Manage to set up mid to long-term change directions like upgrading internal business capability and innovating processes and implement establishing measures to strengthen competitiveness by stage. May supervise the activities of others.

• Develop and advise comprehensive annual and multi-year business strategy across various Consumer Electronics product categories and Accessories) with an in-depth outlook on market dynamics and a plan for growth
• Organize and facilitate the end-to-end CE Division strategy & planning process, including 1) CE Division medium and long-term strategic plan, 2) execution plans and target allocation 3) budget approvals 4) execution review and results tracking. In addition to the annual planning cycle, continuously work with business teams to monitor/propose new or critical initiatives

Lead Executive Communications
Communicate strategic vision globally and execute high-priority tasks to support top management. Manage activities to prepare messages that are shared globally and across the business organization and to address urgent internal and external tasks and to support SVP’s management activities.

• Drive all Executive Communications for the Strategy team through working with Top Management to develop best in class presentation and communication materials
• Mentor and guide junior Managers to ensure successful delivery of all Executive communication and continuous relationship building with Executives

Manage Large Scale Strategic Projects from Concept to Launch
Ability to motivate large groups of team members to achieve above and beyond their current capability. Ability to work in a team environment to achieve personal and project team goals and to complete projects within established time frames. Has broad expertise or unique knowledge, uses skills to contribute to development of company objectives and principles and to achieve goals in creative and effective ways.

• Lead and facilitate cross-divisional projects on key strategic issues based on senior management request
• Create business cases, financial analyses, and ROI assessments based on understanding of SEAs capabilities, financial principles, and strategic insights
• Develop new frameworks/best practices to strategically utilize data to drive new market assessment, demand & forecasting projects

• Actively solves complicated issues by analyzing situations or data. Acts independently to determine methods and procedures on new or special assignments.
• Effectively leverage data to identify opportunities and determine success
• Manages complex budgets and tracks progress to target along each line of business/product, ensuring a balance is maintained spend and ROI
• Establish and manage relationships with key internal and external stakeholders
• Up to 20% Travel
• This role requires being onsite in Samsung's Ridgefield Park, NJ office Monday through Thursday

• Minimum 12 years of related experience and a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field, or 10 years and a Master's degree, or a PhD with 7 years’ experience
• Experience leading a sales or strategic function of an E-commerce, Retail or Consumer Electronics company. Project and program management expertise.
• Experience with Business Intelligence tools like Tableau or Adobe Analytics a (certification in Tableau a plus).
• Demonstrates extensive knowledge of, and/or success in operations roles within a professional services firm or corporate environment, helping companies to identify, clarify and resolve complex issues critical to their strategic and operating success
• Very strong verbal and written communication skills and facility for establishing relationships cross-functionally and cross-divisionally
• Demonstrated ability to balance operations and implement strategic/innovative solutions
• Enhances or Improves methods or procedures and provides coaching to team members to ensure successful outcome
• Strong analytical capabilities and a solid understanding of how to leverage tools such as Excel;
• Strong presentation skills (written and verbal) as well as proficiency in PowerPoint.
