Fleet Maintenance Tech I (KG)FL004 - Plant City Fleet Plant City FL - Plant City, FL 33563OverviewPosition Type: Full Time Education Level: High School Category: General LaborDescriptionTitle: Fleet Maintenance Technician IDepartment: Fleet Operations & MaintenanceJob Summary: Under general supervision, diagnose, maintain, repair, and service a wide variety of fleet vehicles, equipment, and specialized vehicles.Supervisory Responsibilities: NoneDuties/Responsibilities:Diagnose, perform maintenance, and repair on light vehicles and equipmentService vehicles with fuel, oil, and coolant; perform preventive maintenance by checking items such as battery condition, tire air pressure, coolant and oil levels, and hydraulic and brake fluid levelsCoordinates with administration and other trades for the purpose of completing projects/work orders efficientlyPerform and assist in the maintenance and repair of light, medium, and heavy vehicles and equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipmentConduct installation and removal of auxiliary equipmentResponds to emergency situations for the purpose of resolving immediate safety concernsMaintains tools and/or equipment for the purpose of ensuring the availability of equipment in safe operating conditionRequired Skills/Abilities:Ability to operate and give instruction for proper operation of the light vehicles and equipmentAbility to diagnose the failure of vehicles and equipment from the trade knowledge and to use diagnostic equipment and decide how properly repairKnowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance; this includes the ability to operate, calibrate, tune, and synchronize, and perform a complex rapid adjustment on equipment, machinery, and tools such as motor vehicles, motorized equipment, mechanic tools, drill press, welder, forklift, hydraulic press, battery tester, steam cleaner, power washer, and/or related materials used in performing essential functionsAbility to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others within well-established policies, procedures, and standards.Ability to follow specific instructions and respond to simple requests from othersAbility to perform addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division; calculate percentage and decimalsAbility to recognize and identify individual characteristics of colors and odor to determine the condition of fluids, shapes to distinguish objects clearly, sounds to determine if the equipment is operating correctly, track down malfunctions, and textures to detect wearEducation and Experience:High school diploma or equivalentAt least two years of related experience requiredCertification from National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) preferredPhysical Requirements:Prolonged period of standing, bending, reaching, and working with handsOccasional periods of prolonged exposure to load noisesAbility to lift up to 75 pounds at timesAbility to stand, walk, reach with arms and hands as necessaryAbility to hear and see to position and safety requirement levelsOccasional exposure to elements such as heat, cold, noise, dust, dirt, and chemicalsSpecial Qualifications/Requirements:Must be able to successfully pass as required a federal, state, or local government's background investigationValid state drivers license requiredValid commercial driver's license (A, B, or C with specific endorsements) is preferred
