About the Role READY TO PUT YOUR ACCOUNTING EXPERTISE TO WORK ON MEDICARE? Join the Provider Reimbursement Review Board where your accounting and reimbursement expertise helps resolve complex Medicare payment disputes. At CMS, you'll advise Board Members and Hearing Officers on cost reporting, auditing, and payment systems that affect Medicare contractors and providers nationwide. Your expertise could bring fairness and accuracy to Medicare payments. Are you ready to get started? Responsibilities Advise on cost reporting, auditing, and accounting issues related to the Medicare Part A cost report Train new staff and Board Members on the cost report process; consult senior management and OGC on auditing payment issues Provide technical support to parties of appeals (Medicare Contractors, Appeals Support Contractor, Providers, Plans) regarding the PRRB appeals process Advise the PRRB or Hearing Officer on complex accounting and legal issues Prepare comprehensive written draft decisions setting forth essential facts, payment issues in dispute, contentions of the parties, evidence, and relevant law Qualifications Experience evaluating Medicare Part A cost reporting principles and issues involving payment disputes or reimbursement decisions Background providing technical advice on laws, policies, regulations, or precedents applicable to Medicare program administration and payment policies Experience writing technical documents on Part A reimbursement issues (case analysis, summaries, draft recommendations, or position papers) Required Skills Position: GS-0510-14 Resume required (2 page limit).
