Accountant

Accountant The Housing Authority Of Crisfield is seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant to join our Finance team. This position plays a critical role in managing financial operations, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, including HUD and GAAP standards. Reporting to the Director of Finance or Chief Financial Officer, the Accountant supports the effective stewardship of public housing funds while contributing to overall organizational efficiency. Key Responsibilities Prepare and maintain financial records, including general ledger entries, bank reconciliations, and monthly financial reports Ensure compliance with HUD regulations, GAAP standards, and internal financial policies Assist with budget preparation, audit coordination, and financial forecasting Monitor grant funding, expenditures, and reporting requirements Process accounts payable/receivable and support payroll functions as needed Analyze financial data and provide insights to support decision-making Qualifications Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field 3+ years of accounting experience; public sector or housing experience is a plus but not required Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel This is an excellent opportunity for accounting professionals seeking to apply their expertise in a mission-driven environment while growing their career in public service. #J-18808-Ljbffr
