What You Will Do Under minimal supervision, conducts preventive maintenance, repair, installation, commissioning and general servicing of systems, including detailed troubleshooting of systems. Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction through direct on-site interaction. Mentors control technicians, service technicians and mechanical technicians on building automation activities. Properly completes required project and service documentation. Provides our customers with the highest level of service to solve building inefficiencies and resolve service-related items. Acts as a trusted advisor to customers, providing solutions and outcomes at the time of service. How You Will Do It Diagnoses and repairs complex control system malfunctions requiring extensive knowledge of electronic or digital controls systems and the ability to test and modify system software in multiple languages. Consults with customers through data gathering and site assessments. Provides field proposals for retrofits, upgrades and enhancements to existing equipment. Assists sales by providing technical recommendations for sales leads. Manages assigned work to ensure professional and efficient execution, meeting timeframes and customer satisfaction. Reports problems or changes to management promptly. Interfaces with branch manager, service manager, service project manager or subcontractors to coordinate activities ethically and professionally. Provides sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections and drawings. May assist with job layouts and bid proposals. Communicates with customers on arrival and before leaving the site. Maintains high levels of customer satisfaction. Regularly meets with customers to learn operating problems, informs them of service, outstanding issues and recommends system enhancements, upgrades, or replacement. Promotes the sale of add-on work. Adheres to all Johnson Controls and customer safety standards. Provides safety leadership and instruction to all control technicians in the branch. Maintains safety awareness while working onsite with subcontractors. Trains customers in control system operations and provides manuals/documentation for training as required. Provides mentorship for certification of Controls Technicians and Service Technicians on complex building automation systems. Coaches and trains the technical workforce on non-complex, non-critical equipment. Compiles job documentation, such as certificates of completion, customer training forms, training certificates and punch lists. Engages in self-study to improve and maintain technical proficiency in company product lines and completes certifications as required. Assists in the design, configuration and documentation of building control systems as defined by contract documents, including flow diagrams, sequences of operations, bill of materials, network layouts and electrical schematics as required. Assists in developing and testing software programs necessary to operate the system per project requirements. Compiles as-built and close-out documentation for projects. Assists in coordination and creation of drawings and equipment schedules for submittals and installation. Selects, orders, and tracks material deliveries for assigned projects. Coordinates factory-mounting processes to meet schedules. Assists in loading and commissioning of system and network-level controllers. Validates complete system functionality and troubleshoots with subcontractors and other trades to ensure proper operation. May provide field change information for as-built drawings and software. Keeps management and customers informed of job progress and issues. Assists in site-specific owner/operator training on the total building control system. Participates in release meetings with project field teams. Provides recommendations and solutions to optimize facility efficiency, including upsell opportunities. Provides quotes to support recommendations and solutions. Required What We Look For Be a dedicated member of a North America Branch team willing to learn and be responsible for system troubleshooting, repair and aftermarket services for this fast-growing business. Minimum of four (4) years of Commercial Controls troubleshooting experience in the HVAC industry (including buildings, chiller plants and systems). Vocational school program graduate or an associate degree in a technical field, or two years’ experience in servicing electronic and/or mechanical systems. Demonstrated ability to install and/or service electronic control systems and HVAC equipment. Effective communication skills to represent Johnson Controls on customer sites. Ability to explain technical information to technical and non-technical people. Demonstrated effective writing skills and understanding of programs/software applications. Knowledge of control theory, automatic temperature controls, building automation systems and other building subsystems. HIRING HOURLY RANGE: $26.83-35.09 (The hourly rate is determined by education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, internal equity, location and market data.)
