Assistant CustodianThe purpose of the Assistant Custodian is to maintain an attractive, sanitary, safe facility for students, staff, and the public. Assist in the cleaning and maintenance of building.Duties and responsibilities include providing a high level of customer service, following job related instructions given by the Custodial Foreman and the Principal, assisting in overseeing any minor repairs, devising a plan for the cleaning of each office or room in his/her building on a daily basis, maintaining a safe atmosphere for students and persons working in building as well as visitors, assisting with ordering materials necessary for the upkeep of the building while staying within his/her assigned budget, keeping building and premises, including sidewalks, driveways and play areas, neat and clean at all times, securing all doors and windows, and turning off lights except those left on for security reasons, cleaning restrooms and drinking fountains daily according to health department regulations, cleaning classrooms and corridors daily, removing trash and rubbish from campus daily; cutting grass weekly and trimming shrubbery as needed, caring for plants and shrubs inside as well as outside the building, moving furniture and equipment within the building as directed by the Principal, adhering to school system rules, administrative procedures, local board policies, and state & federal rules & regulations, engaging in professional growth & development. Demonstrates professional ethics & leadership, and performing other duties as assigned.Qualifications include providing own transportation, having a High School Diploma or equivalent, and having a valid Alabama Driver's License. Employment experience gained in the private employment sector may be considered for this position.Application requirements include a completed application, resume, and three returned references.
