American Air Conditioning & Heating is looking for experienced Commercial Sheet Metal Mechanics / HVAC Duct Installers to join our commercial HVAC team.

We have multiple active projects throughout the San Antonio and Austin areas and are looking for dependable installers who know the trade, have their own basic tools, and can work without constant supervision.

This is not an entry-level position . We need people who understand commercial HVAC duct installation and can look at a set of plans, understand what needs to be installed, and get the work completed correctly.

Responsibilities

• Install commercial HVAC ductwork including rectangular, spiral, round, flex duct, diffusers, grilles, and related accessories.
• Read and understand mechanical plans and duct layouts.
• Properly hang, support, seal, and connect duct systems.
• Take accurate field measurements.
• Make field modifications when necessary.
• Perform basic sheet metal modifications including offsets, doglegs, transitions, and adjustments to existing fittings.
• Coordinate installation with other trades and jobsite conditions.
• Maintain quality workmanship and a clean work area.
• Travel between company projects in the San Antonio and Austin areas as required.

Requirements

• Commercial HVAC / sheet metal installation experience.
• Ability to independently install ductwork from plans and field conditions.
• Must have your own basic sheet metal/HVAC hand tools.
• Reliable transportation.
• Valid driver's license preferred.
• Ability to report to different project locations depending on the work schedule.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality are required.
• Ability to work safely from ladders, lifts, and elevated work areas.
• Ability to lift and handle commercial ductwork and sheet metal materials.
• Must be able to work effectively as part of a crew while also handling assigned work independently.

Strongly Preferred

Applicants with any of the following experience will receive additional consideration:

• Sheet metal fabrication experience.
• Ability to modify fittings in the field.
• Ability to fabricate offsets, doglegs, transitions, reducers, plenums, and similar fittings.
• Experience laying out sheet metal fittings.
• Experience working from field measurements.
• Experience with commercial RTU, AHU, exhaust, outside-air, and general HVAC duct systems.

Our projects change as work progresses, so employees may work in San Antonio one day and another project location on a different day. Reliable transportation and dependable attendance are essential to this position.

Compensation: Based on experience and demonstrated skill level.

Employees may primarily work in the field installing commercial duct systems, with occasional shop fabrication work depending on experience, workload, and project needs.
