Product Design Lead

Product Design Lead We are seeking a Product Design Lead to oversee the design of a proprietary software platform that will be utilized by research scientists across the country. The role requires deep expertise in human‑centered design, agile methodologies, and product management skills to create user‑focused, effective, and innovative products. A government clearance is required or must be obtained for this position. Responsibilities Apply advanced human‑centered design methodologies to agile product development, ensuring solutions meet the needs and preferences of federal users. Establish project design SOPs and artifacts, including wireframes, mockups, a full design system, site map, and approval processes. Facilitate design workshops and sprint planning sessions to integrate user‑centered design into the agile process. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams—developers, stakeholders, and federal clients—to align on design goals and project objectives. Communicate design concepts, rationale, and recommendations clearly and effectively to both technical and non‑technical audiences. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 7+ years of experience designing digital products or services in consulting, in‑house, or agency environments. Experience leading custom full life cycle design and build efforts. Strong foundation in human‑centered design principles, UX, and interaction design for browser‑based, native application, and platform experiences. Experience working across the product lifecycle from discovery through delivery and iteration. Proficiency with modern design and prototyping tools (e.g., Figma, Sketch, Framer). Experience collaborating with engineering and product teams in agile or iterative delivery models. Ability to communicate design intent and tradeoffs clearly to diverse stakeholders, including non‑design audiences. Bonus Experience working in product design for a Fortune 500 company. Experience with HTML or CSS. Compensation Base pay range: $95,700—$211,700 USD in California, Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Washington, Vermont, the District of Columbia, and the city of Cleveland.
