ROLE OVERVIEW

The Vice Principal will support the work of the assigned Principal with a variety of critical responsibilities, which may include effectively developing and managing teachers to continuously improve instruction, creating a positive learning environment, and ensuring the smooth functioning of all non‑instructional operations that are necessary for an effective instructional program. Certification Requirements (NJDOE-Aligned)

N.J.A.C. 6A:9B

Required A valid New Jersey Standard Principal Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility (or the equivalent license from another state) Master's Degree from an accredited college or university At least 5 years of successful teaching experience with demonstrated student achievements in either high school or elementary education programs. Demonstrated leadership capability in the areas of curriculum and staff development Required criminal history background check, physical examination, and proof of eligibility for employment in accordance with New Jersey law. Preferred / Additional Qualifications Master's Degree with a certification in Administration and Supervision or Educational Leadership New Jersey School Administrator Certificate Advanced degree in Educational Leadership or Administration Prior leadership experience in Middle or High School in an urban turnaround school environment Advanced degree in Educational Leadership or Administration Proven track record of raising student achievement in high-poverty or turnaround schools Documented success mentoring teachers to improve instructional quality Experience supporting multidisciplinary student intervention teams

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

Assists the principal in developing, implementing, and assessing academic programs and high curriculum standards. Deliver actionable feedback on classroom management and instructional time effectively and setting clear academic and behavioral expectations for students Serves as building administrator in the absence of the principal. Assists in the identification and monitoring of techniques, methods, and approaches for use by staff to improve instruction. Assists in monitoring the facility to ensure that a safe, clean learning environment is maintained. Assists in the conducting of safety inspections and safety drill practice activities. Assists the principal in coordinating transportation, custodial, cafeteria and other support services. Demonstrated ability to analyze data effectively. Staff Management Coaching teachers on classroom management skills, using instructional time effectively and setting clear academic and behavioral expectations for students Hold difficult, professional growth conversations centered on student needs Navigate institutional changes and obstacles with optimism and adaptability. Managing towards outcomes and ambitious goals despite significant obstacles Assists in organizing and facilitating professional development opportunities for faculty. Student discipline, Supervision of Students Responsible for maintaining high standards of student conduct and enforcing discipline policies. Assists in supervision of the cafeteria operations. Provides guidance to individual students, resolves individual behavioral problems. Record‑keeping, reporting and scheduling Supervises the reporting and monitoring of student attendance, and works with the Senior Director of Attendance, Family Engagement, & Community Partnerships for investigative follow‑up actions. Assists in the preparation of required reports of violence, vandalism, substance abuse, and possession of firearms. Performs such record‑keeping and reporting functions as the principal may direct. Interaction with school staff Supervises teachers and departments as assigned by the principal. Supervises extracurricular programs, assembly programs and assignment of faculty members to assist at school functions. Assists in the coordination and supervision of special programs funded by the state or federal government. Makes recommendations to the principal for changes in policies, personnel practices and other such matters that may result in a more effective school administration. Family & Community Engagement Assist in cultivating respectful relationships with parents, caregivers, and neighborhood stakeholders. Assist in connecting local community resources directly to school‑based enrichment goals. Assist in presenting school progress effectively via written reports and public meetings. Assist in building and cultivate relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders Demonstrated ability to successfully engage families and communities. Other Requisitions supplies, textbooks and equipment, conducts inventories, maintains records, and reviews receipts and purchase orders for such material. Assists in the planning and supervision of activities to promote pupil and employee health and safety. Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the principal or superintendent.

Possible exposure to a range of childhood and adult illnesses. Occasional exposure to varying weather conditions. Work performed in heated, air‑conditioned, ventilated facilities. Moderate to high at times, noise level especially during school hours, assemblies or events. Frequent interruptions from calls, walk‑ins and urgent requests. Possible exposure to cleaning agents, instructional materials, and equipment‑related chemicals. Evaluation Performance shall be evaluated annually in accordance with Board policy, administrative regulations, and district leadership procedures. Reports To Director of School Performance (K-5/ 6-12) Supervises Instructional staff, Non-Instructional staff, other staff as assigned Work Year Twelve (12) Months Classification Affiliated/Supervisor/CCPSA Minimum Starting Salary $85,202.00 Maximum Starting Salary $162,102.00 Residency Requirement Under New Jersey's "New Jersey First Act" (N.J.S.A. 52:14-7), all employees of New Jersey public school districts must maintain bona fide New Jersey residency as a condition of employment. Candidates must already reside in New Jersey or establish residency within the required timeframe after hire. Current employees who were hired on or before September 1, 2011 are exempt from this requirement and may continue to reside outside the state. In limited circumstances, applicants may request a residency waiver through the state's Employee Residency Review Committee if they can demonstrate critical need or hardship; approval is not guaranteed.
