The Center for Reconstructive Surgery The Center for Reconstructive Surgery at MD Anderson specializes in procedures that restore normal function and correct the physical changes caused by cancer-related treatments. Shift and Salary Shift: Monday - Friday, 8 am-5 pm Salary range: $68,000 - $142,500 Clinical Nurse Position The Center for Reconstructive Surgery is seeking a Clinical Nurse. The ideal candidate will be a licensed RN with at least two years of medical-surgical experience, including procedural experience in plastic surgery or oncology. Strong organization, clear communication, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment are essential. Key Functions Accountable for the management and provision of patient care in assigned area. Assess patient’s needs for nursing care and other services, using clinical skills and visual, aural and analytical abilities. Collaborate with physicians, other services, patient and family to plan care and evaluate outcomes. Integrate knowledge of age-specific care needs, principles of oncology practice, institutional goals and standards and current professional practice standards in providing care for patients. Improve practice by integrating results and theories of research studies. Participate in data collection for current studies. Demonstrate clinical competency and compassion in providing care, using technology, administering medications, performing procedures and managing emergencies. Assure continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education and coordination of services. Act as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights. Organize and prioritize work of patient care team; train, coach and assist team members to ensure optimum patient care and efficient use of resources. Education Required: Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing. Preferred: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. Work Experience Required: None. Preferred: Two years of nursing experience; preferably plastic surgery and/or medical-surgical. Oncology experience is a plus. Licenses and Certifications Required: Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license (RN). Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification if working in ASC Post Anesthesia. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) if working in ASC Post Anesthesia or Pedi - Child & Adolescent Center. Preferred: Oncology Nurse Certification (OCN). Certification in specialty practice. Other Requirements All clinical nurses with less than one year of registered nurse (RN) work experience will be required to participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program.
