Medical Surgical Unit - Travel Registered Nurse

Shift: 7:30 PM - 7:30 AM

Experience:

• 24 months of experience with 3 months worked in the last 12 months.

• 12 months of Medical Surgical Unit experience with 12 months worked in the last 3 years.

• Experience with Epic is preferred.

Requirements:

• Candidates must have a Illinois license (required for submission).

• This role may require floating to additional units and locations

• Local & travel allowed. Candidates living <50 miles from facility will be processed as local.

• 12 months gap required between for Staff at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare and no current placement allowed at Program: Medical Solutions Plus Program - OSF HealthCare.

Required Skills/Experience: - Post-op care of patients.

Special Requests: - Block scheduling will be considered but must be approved at the time of contract.

Unit Details: - Nurse-patient ratios: 4-5:1 on days, 5-6:1 on nights. - Patient population/work includes post-op surgical, trauma, and overflow medical patients; dressing changes, wound care, IV therapy, pain management, drains, NGs, central lines, and TPN. - Heparin is the only drip; RNs do not titrate drips. - Two charge RNs are pre-assigned each shift and do not take assignments; house supervisor coverage is available 24/7. - PCT support ratios: 7-10 patients per PCT on days, 10-15 on nights; PCTs assist with vitals, accu checks, ADLs, turning, and ambulation. - No vents; CPAP and high flow are used. RT manages nebulizers, and RNs manage inhalers and can place patients on CPAP. - Some patients are on telemetry using Philips monitors; bedside RNs do not read strips, and monitor techs staff a central station.

Shift & Scheduling: - Every other weekend; weekend shifts are Saturday and Sunday. - Rotates every other holiday. - No call. - Travelers do not self-schedule.

Floating Requirements: - Travelers are the first to float and will float to units with the same level of experience. If an ICU RN floats to a general unit, they will take a 3-patient assignment.

14 days maximum time off

2 Charge/Lead references required from within the last 12 months
