Director, Technical Program Manager - Bank Tech

We’re looking for a Director, Technical Program Manager to lead programs that deliver critical business goals and build large‑scale products and platforms. Responsibilities Strong technical background in building highly scalable platforms, products, or services with the ability to proactively identify and mitigate technical risks throughout the delivery life‑cycle. Exceptional communication and collaboration skills. Excellent problem‑solving and influencing skills. Quantitative approach to problem‑solving and a system‑thinking implementation of holistic solutions. Experience as a TPM leader to grow and develop a team of TPMs while building the foundations for the TPM practice. Ability to simplify technically complex situations and drive well‑educated decisions across product, engineering, design, and data‑science representatives. Deep focus on execution, follow‑through, accountability, and results. Exceptional cross‑team collaboration; can work across functions, organizations, and reporting boundaries to get the job done. High emotional intelligence, good listening, and deep empathy for teams and partners. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree. At least 7 years of experience managing technical programs. Preferred Qualifications 7+ years designing and building data‑intensive solutions using distributed computing. 3+ years building distributed systems and highly available services using cloud computing (preferably AWS). 3+ years building highly scalable mobile products and platforms. 3+ years experience with Agile delivery. 3+ years delivering large and complex programs—owning business or technical vision, collaborating with large cross‑functional teams, securing commitments on deliverables, and unblocking teams to achieve business impact. Experience building systems and solutions in a highly regulated environment. Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field (e.g., Computer Science, Software Engineering). MBA or Master’s degree in a related technical field or equivalent experience. Benefits and Compensation Salary ranges by location (example): McLean, VA: $230,400‑$263,000 for Director, Technical Program Management. Richmond, VA: $209,500‑$239,100 for Director, Technical Program Management. Eligibility to earn performance‑based incentive compensation, including cash bonus(es) and/or long‑term incentives (LTI), dependent on the plan.
