Position Summary The mission of the Engineer is to deliver quality engineering and design documents that are constructable and meet the critical success factors defined for the project.

- Assist in client contact and communication pertaining to specific projects.
- Attend client and public meetings - days or nights.
- Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering plans and reports.
- Review the construction site to monitor progress and other duties per the contract documents.
- Show responsibility for job specific quality as defined in a Practice's or Project's quality control plan.
- Define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Read, analyze, and interpret engineering and construction documents, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.
- Assist in the preparation or modification of reports, specifications, plans, construction documents, studies, permits, and designs for various projects.
- Assist in the development of construction cost estimates for various projects.
- Exercise some independent judgment with limited decision making.
- Work under the supervision of a licensed engineer to prepare design computations, design documents, and quantity estimates, with increasing proficiency and independence.
- Rely on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
- Follow policies and procedures set forth in the Employee Handbook.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Assist with the preparation of project deliverables according to the planned direct labor and expense budgets outlined by the Project Manager or Practice Leader.
- Communicate effectively with the Project Manager or Practice Leader to understand established schedule milestones, as well as direct labor and expense budgets.
- Efficiently manage time towards completion of assignments within schedule and budget.
- Successfully achieve the financial goals set forth for your position (quality work within project budgets, direct labor hours, etc.).
- Work with Supervisor to identify and complete professional development, skills development, knowledge acquisition, and personal growth. (i.e., new software, conferences, certifications, licensure, etc.).
- Actively pursue and participate in professional activities.
- Complete professional development as assigned.
- Successfully maintain CEU's and licensure as assigned/required.
- Actively pursue licensure as a Professional Engineer.
- BS degree in civil engineering with 2-5 years of experience or MS/MBA degree with 1 year of experience.
- Preferred: Registration as Engineer-in-Training (EIT)
- Valid driver's license.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Basic level of computer-aided design using AutoCAD, Civil3D, and/or OpenRoads required.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Seeing, hearing, talking, standing, stooping, bending, walking, reading, and writing.
- Reaching with hands and arms.
- Ability to lift 25 lbs. or more.
- Ability to work extended hours at times.
- Predominantly office environment: some overnight travel is required.
- The noise level in the office work environment is usually moderate.
- Occasionally works in outside weather conditions, possibly for extended assignments.
- The noise level on the construction site is often loud.
