Estess CPAs is seeking a dependable and experienced Accounting Manager to oversee accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, and client service workflows for small business clients. This position is responsible for managing recurring monthly accounting work, reviewing financial reports, supervising staff, communicating with clients, and helping ensure work is completed accurately and on time.

The ideal candidate is organized, detail-oriented, comfortable managing people and deadlines, and experienced in small business accounting, payroll, QuickBooks, and client communication.

Responsibilities

The Accounting Manager will be responsible for:

• Managing monthly bookkeeping and accounting workflows for business clients
• Reviewing bank reconciliations, financial statements, payroll reports, and sales tax filings
• Supervising and supporting bookkeepers, payroll staff, and accounting team members
• Ensuring client work is completed accurately, timely, and according to firm procedures
• Communicating with clients regarding accounting, payroll, tax, and financial questions
• Reviewing client financial statements for accuracy and unusual items
• Helping onboard new accounting and payroll clients
• Assisting with cleanup projects, year-end accounting, and tax season preparation
• Monitoring deadlines and making sure recurring work stays on schedule
• Training staff on firm procedures, client expectations, and accounting standards
• Supporting firm leadership with process improvements and client service quality

Qualifications

Required qualifications:

• Accounting Degree, qualified to sit for CPA exam
• CPA / EA Preferred
• Strong accounting, bookkeeping, and payroll experience
• Experience with QuickBooks Online and/or QuickBooks Desktop
• Ability to review financial statements and identify errors or unusual items
• Strong organizational and deadline-management skills
• Good communication skills with both clients and staff
• Ability to supervise, train, and hold team members accountable
• Strong attention to detail
• Comfortable working in a CPA firm, bookkeeping firm, or small business accounting environment

Preferred qualifications:

• Prior experience managing accounting or bookkeeping staff
• CPA firm experience
• Payroll processing experience
• Sales tax filing experience
• Experience with small business clients
• Experience with Thomson Reuters, Accounting CS, UltraTax, or similar software
• Accounting degree preferred but not required with strong experience

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, full-time position.

Typical hours are 7:30 - 5:00 with every other Friday off.
