Surgical Technician

We are seeking a skilled Surgical Technician to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will provide proficient assistance in various gastrointestinal (GI) procedures, supporting both circulating and technical functions. This position requires strong knowledge and experience in advanced procedures, such as Endoscopic Ultrasound (EUS) and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP).

Key Responsibilities

• Assist as a circulator and technician in GI procedures, ensuring a smooth and efficient workflow.
• Handle specialized imaging catheters, sphincterotomy wires, and stents during ERCP procedures.
• Operate and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment, assisting with Fine Needle Aspiration for tissue biopsies in EUS procedures.
• Set up advanced electrocautery and injection tools for Endoscopic Mucosal/Submucosal Resection (EMR/ESD), including the removal of complex polyps.
• Utilize advanced equipment for enteroscopy procedures, focusing on the small bowel.
• Assist with endolumenal surgeries, including suturing and stent deployments for GI conditions.
• Ensure high-level disinfection and reprocessing of complex scopes in accordance with established standards.

Qualifications

• Strong skills in both circulating and technical support for advanced GI procedures, specifically EUS and ERCP.
• Current certifications in ACLS and BLS required.
• Proven experience in high-level surgical settings with preference for acute care environments.
• Demonstrated ability to work as part of a team and communicate effectively within a fast-paced environment.
• Compliance with artificial nail policy: artificial nails are prohibited in all departments providing patient care.

Work Schedule

This position offers a schedule of four 10-hour shifts, plus on-call requirements. The current on-call schedule involves covering 1-2 weeknights per week and approximately every three weekends.

Additional Information

• Passing a skills assessment exam during orientation is mandatory.
• Open book exam with necessary resources will be provided; a minimum score of 90% is required to pass.
• This role supports advanced GI procedures at multiple locations within the region.
