Hospice Aide - CNA - PRN-The Hospice Aide is responsible for assisting with activities of daily living and providing personal care for patients in accordance with the individualized patient plan of care and under the direction and supervision of a Registered Nurse. This position may also assist with office/administrative needs.NOTE: This position is PRN/on-call requiring 40-50 hours/month (5 days) of availability.Estimated Hiring Range:$23.28 - $28.45Bonus Target:Current CareOregon Employees: Please use the internal Workday site to submit an application for this job.-Essential ResponsibilitiesPatient AssistanceProvide personal care to the patient in a compassionate and understanding manner consistent with hospice philosophy while respecting dignity and rights of the patient.Under the written and/or verbal direction of the RN, the Hospice Aide may perform the following duties:Provide personal care such as, but not limited to, a bed bath, shower or tub bath, oral care, skin and foot careProvide good body alignment, positioning, and range of motion exercises for non-ambulatory patientsAssist with routine foley catheter care and empties collection deviceObtain vital signsProvide respite care while primary caregiver is absentProvide adjunct care such as enemas, and dressing changes per delegation from RNRecognize changes in patient’s condition and reports to RNPerform light housekeeping and other duties as determined by patient/family or as assigned by a registered nurseProvide a clean, safe and healthy environment for patients, utilizing infection control measures appropriatelyNote: Never performs procedures and treatments not qualified to perform.Attend Interdisciplinary Group (IDG) meetings and participate in care planning for assigned patients.Consult with registered nurse to obtain instructions and supervision as necessary.Remain current on all relevant rules and regulations.Administrative SupportProvide office/administrative support as needed.Attend staff and mandatory in-services meetings.Experience and/or EducationRequiredCurrent Certified Nursing Assistant certificateCPR certification at hire or within 6 months in positionExperience working with electronic medical recordsValid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and automobile liability coverage or access to an insured vehiclePreferredPrevious work experience in hospice, home health or long-term care and/or completion of a comprehensive hospice training programExperience in an office-based setting including clerical and computer workKnowledge, Skills and Abilities RequiredKnowledgeKnowledgeable of hospice philosophy and understanding the needs of and working with patients in a hospice settingKnowledge of Federal, State and Local regulations, Hospice Medicare Conditions of Participation, and HIPAA privacy rules and regulationsSkills and AbilitiesPractice within the scope of license, certification or registration, where applicable, and as required by law and regulationExcellent interpersonal skillsExcellent problem-solving skillsAbility to adhere to organizational standards, policies and proceduresAbility to work both independently and collaborativelyAbility to work under pressure to meet deadlinesAbility to take initiative and utilize innovative techniques and ingenuityAbility to interact with various departments throughout the organizationAbility to work flexible hours, including weekend daytime shifts as neededAbility to plan, prioritize and coordinate multiple projects or tasksSkilled in proper body mechanics, including patient transfers, turning, and re-positioningComputer skills, including the ability to navigate between different programs such as email, faxing, PDF, and Microsoft WordAbility to use good judgment, personal initiative and discretion to perform job responsibilitiesAbility to communicate effectively with diverse staff and patients, their families and caregiversAbility to tolerate griefAbility to work effectively with diverse individuals and groupsAbility to learn, focus, understand, and evaluate information and determine appropriate actionsAbility to accept direction and feedback, as well as tolerate and manage stressAbility to see, read, hear, and speak clearly for at least 6 hours/dayAbility to stand, walk, sit, and perform repetitive finger and wrist movement for at least 3-6 hours/dayAbility to lift, carry, push, pull, climb stairs, bend, and/or pinch small objects for up to 3 hours/dayAbility to operate a motorized vehicle in all kinds of weather conditionsWorking ConditionsWork Environment(s): Indoor/Office Community Facilities/Security Outdoor ExposureMember/Patient Facing: No Telephonic In PersonHazards: May include, but not limited to, physical, ergonomic, and biological hazards.Equipment: General office equipment and/or mobile technologyTravel: Requires travel outside of the workplace at least weekly; the employee’s personal vehicle may be used.
