A Senior Application Engineer serves as a valuable resource and a leader within the sales territory. This position is more mature in experience and expertise, as well as thoroughly knowledgeable in the metal cutting industry; as such, the incumbent is expected to carry customer accounts, take on large strategic projects, act as a trainer/mentor for a less experienced team members, and step up as interim leader when needed.Key Job Responsibilities:Support the Machine Tool Industry business and technically support key accounts and projectsLead and manage customer projects (turnkey, tooling, process improvements)Define & support project management scope, objectives, timelines, and deliverablesCoordinate cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, sales, etc) for project managementUnderstand customers' business, technology, and product requirements and appropriately match Kennametal tooling solutions, products and services to meet customer needsExceed customer expectations relative to Kennametal service levels and technical know-how and value-added servicesPerform sales forecasting, account planning and other administrative tasks that will profitably grow the businessUnderstand and utilize company resourcesShow continuous improvements in technical, product and selling skillsMaintain high impact customer relationships with current accounts to expand market shareEducation, Work Experience, Skills, Certificates:Bachelors degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering or equivalent working experience in industry5 to 7 plus years of successful field or manufacturing experience in the metal cutting industry; Experience working with OEM machine tool builders preferredExperience working in an extensive technical manufacturing environmentProficient in identifying and assessing customer needsCompetent in understanding and communicating all products and technical informationAble to understand and communicate complex contract conditionsAble to work independently with little supervisionWell developed interpersonal skills enabling teamwork and clear communicationValid driver's licenseKennametal Inc. is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer.
