Service & Repair Assistant (HVAC-R)

SUNY Delhi seeks a self‑motivated, forward‑thinking Service & Repair Assistant (HVAC‑R) to join the Facilities Department in the HVAC‑R Shop. This position requires employees to perform routine and repetitive tasks in the inspection, maintenance, and repair of heating, ventilation, air‑conditioning, and refrigeration equipment, working under the supervision of a Service and Repair Mechanic (HVAC‑R). After gaining experience, employees may perform journey‑level activities under supervision or after receiving detailed instructions. Requirements Two years of full‑time experience in heating, plumbing, electrical, steam‑fitting, air‑conditioning, or refrigeration work under the supervision of a journey‑level tradesperson; OR Completion of a two‑year technical school course in heating, refrigeration, or air‑conditioning at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services. Unrestricted driver’s license with a clean driving record. Preferred Qualifications 7G pesticide license for cooling tower maintenance and treatment, or ability to obtain. EPA universal refrigeration certification or ability to earn a certificate. Experience with the operation of integrated building management systems and PLCs. Additional Information Position status: Full‑time, Permanent. Negotiating unit: 03 – Operational Services Unit (OSU). Work schedule: 40 hours per week, with weekend and holiday work as needed.
