Responsibilities Complete the official birth certificate for every infant born and select death certificates in conjunction with patient placement. Conduct the second interview with patients to review information and have the mother authenticate the infant’s birth certificate. Enter and submit birth and death certificates to the Bureau of Vital Statistics within five days of birth. Update the infant’s name in the computer system after discharge. Ensure accurate and timely submission of monthly statistical reports to the state as required by law. Assist with room audits for the Safe Sleep initiative when time allows. Be cross‑trained to the Patient Unit Coordinator role on MBU to assist as needed. Perform other duties as assigned. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Proficient with computer programs, including word processing and Excel. Demonstrate interpersonal skills and effective communication with patients, families, nursing staff, and government agencies. Strong emphasis on organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multi‑task. Capable of working independently or in a team environment. Display professional interactions with all levels of internal customers as demonstrated by work history and interview process. Have prior medical record or physician office experience. Possess solid computer skills. Exhibit excellent communication skills. Prior knowledge of electronic birth certificate submission to state agencies (preferred). Education and Experience High school graduate or equivalent (required). Prior experience with electronic birth certificate completion (preferred). Prior medical record experience (preferred). Licenses and Certifications National Notary Association Notary Public (NNANP) – required. Physical Requirements Physical requirements can be viewed at Pay Range $17.63 – $28.20.
