As a Substance Use Therapist, you will provide specialized therapeutic programming to clients in an alcohol and other drug treatment program. You will be responsible for all aspects of program content, including security, assessment/evaluation, psycho-educational programming, monitoring and reporting, teaching, training and professional standards.

Work is in a Minnesota Correctional Facility (MCF) - Shakopee with incarcerated individuals.

Minimum Qualifications

To be qualified for and considered for this position, applicants must meet all the minimum qualifications listed below. Ensure that your resume contains descriptions of your work experiences sufficient for comparison against the requirements stated below and indicate the beginning and ending month and year for each job held.

• Current licensure or eligibility for licensure through reciprocity* by the Minnesota Board of Behavioral Health and Therapy as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or equivalently qualified to perform alcohol and drug counseling under Minnesota Statute 148F.11.
• Two (2) years of experience providing behavioral health services, including individual and group therapy
• *An associate's degree in psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or a related field may substitute for six months, a bachelor's degree in a previously listed field may substitute for one year, a master's degree in a previously listed field may substitute for 2 years of experience

To maintain employment, the successful candidate who is eligible for LADC licensure must possess a temporary ADC permit within 60 calendar days of the first day of employment and current LADC license within the 6-month probationary period.)

Applicants meeting the above minimum qualifications will be further assessed in the following:

• Verbal and written communication skills, including proficient documentation skills.
• Interpersonal and human relation skills.
• Ability to provide substance use treatment; formulate and implement treatment plan; and develop a continuing care plan.

Preferred Qualifications

• Current Minnesota LADC.
• Advanced degree in Psychology, Social Work or a related Behavioral Science or Social Science program.
• Experience completing client intakes, and leading individual and group therapy in an SUD setting.
• Experience working in a correctional/secure setting.

Additional Requirements

The selection process may include screening the top candidate(s) on their criminal history, predatory offender registration, offender associations and/or other applicable background information in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. Top candidate(s) must pass a criminal history check which includes successful completion of all sentencing and/or restitution requirements of law enforcement jurisdictions, including probation.

Employment history/reference checks, including incidents of sexual harassment, will also be conducted on the top candidate(s) in accordance with Department of Corrections' policy. This may include a review of job performance and discipline records.
