Laundry Attendant

Position Purpose

The Laundry Attendant helps ensure guests have a clean and comfortable stay by maintaining a consistent supply of fresh, clean linens and towels for the hotel. This position is responsible for sorting, washing, drying, folding, organizing, and distributing linens while maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient laundry operation.

Essential Functions

• Sort soiled linens and towels according to established procedures.
• Load and unload commercial washers and dryers safely and efficiently.
• Operate laundry equipment according to manufacturer instructions and established hotel procedures.
• Wash and dry linens, towels, and other hotel items using the appropriate cycles, temperatures, and cleaning products.
• Fold, organize, and store clean linens and towels according to established standards.
• Maintain a consistent supply of clean linens and terry to support daily hotel operations.
• Prepare and distribute clean linens and towels to Housekeeping closets, carts, or other designated areas as needed.
• Collect or assist with transporting soiled linens from designated hotel areas.
• Inspect clean linens and towels for stains, damage, excessive wear, or other quality concerns.
• Separate damaged or unusable linens and communicate replacement needs to Housekeeping leadership.
• Rewash or reprocess linens when necessary to meet established cleanliness standards.
• Maintain appropriate organization and rotation of clean linen inventory.
• Assist with linen and laundry supply inventories as assigned.
• Monitor laundry supplies and communicate replenishment needs to management.
• Keep washers, dryers, lint traps, laundry carts, work tables, and other equipment clean and properly maintained.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary laundry room and linen storage areas.
• Sweep, mop, remove trash, and complete other cleaning responsibilities within the laundry area.
• Promptly report malfunctioning equipment, leaks, unusual noises, safety hazards, or other maintenance concerns.
• Follow established procedures for the proper use, storage, and handling of laundry chemicals.
• Maintain accurate laundry records or production information when required.

Quality & Team Support

• Ensure linens and towels meet established cleanliness and presentation standards before being distributed for use.
• Work efficiently to maintain appropriate linen levels based on hotel occupancy and Housekeeping needs.
• Communicate linen shortages, damaged inventory, equipment concerns, or other operational issues to Housekeeping leadership.
• Coordinate with Room Attendants, Housepersons, and Housekeeping leadership regarding linen needs and priorities.
• Assist Housekeeping team members with linen and supply needs throughout the shift.
• Help maintain organized linen rooms, storage areas, and Housekeeping supply areas as assigned.
• Support efficient linen usage and help minimize unnecessary loss, damage, and waste.

Safety & Cleanliness

• Follow established laundry, sanitation, and workplace safety procedures.
• Use required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when performing applicable tasks.
• Properly handle laundry chemicals according to manufacturer instructions and established procedures.
• Follow safe lifting, loading, unloading, and equipment-operating practices.
• Keep floors and work areas clear of excess water, lint, linens, and other potential hazards.
• Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged equipment, chemical concerns, workplace injuries, or other safety issues.
• Follow applicable company policies, hotel and brand standards, health and safety requirements, and regulatory requirements.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performing the essential functions, this position may be required to perform other duties based on the operational needs of the hotel.

• Assist with Housekeeping supply and linen inventories.
• Assist with receiving, organizing, and stocking linens and Housekeeping supplies.
• Assist with transporting linens, towels, and supplies throughout the hotel.
• Assist Room Attendants, Housepersons, or other Housekeeping team members when needed.
• Assist with public area or Housekeeping cleaning responsibilities during periods of operational need.
• Respond appropriately to guest requests when encountered and communicate requests to the appropriate department when necessary.
• Attend required meetings and training.
• Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous hotel, commercial laundry, Housekeeping, or cleaning experience preferred, but not required.
• Dependable and able to consistently report to work as scheduled.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness.
• Ability to work independently and complete assigned responsibilities with limited supervision.
• Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to learn and safely operate commercial laundry equipment.
• Ability to learn and follow established linen processing, cleanliness, and sanitation procedures.
• Ability to safely use and handle laundry chemicals.
• Ability to recognize damaged or stained linens and identify items requiring additional processing.
• Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with team members and leadership.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of the Housekeeping team.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule based on business needs, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as applicable.

Hospitality Expectations

Our hotels operate seven (7) days a week, twenty-four (24) hours a day. All associates are expected to support a professional, welcoming, and service-focused environment at all times. Scheduling and responsibilities may vary based on business and operational needs.

Laundry Attendants may be required to adjust daily priorities and responsibilities based on occupancy, linen volume, staffing, and other Housekeeping needs.
