The Corporate Legal Team supports Workday’s global business by providing innovative legal advice regarding compliance with laws, corporate governance, and global entity management.

About the Role

We are seeking a highly motivated senior corporate attorney who thrives in a fast‑paced and high‑energy environment. The ideal candidate is a confident self‑starter who can prioritize and lead multiple tasks with agility and a dose of good humor.

Responsibilities

• Advising on executive compensation matters and supporting the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors, including equity and bonus programs, 10b5‑1 plans, and trading policy.
• Providing legal support for capital markets activities such as share repurchase programs, debt and equity offerings, and other transactional corporate matters.
• Leading U.S. securities law compliance and public company disclosure, advising on disclosure strategy and content, and partnering with finance, investor relations, and communications teams.
• Advising on corporate governance matters, providing board and committee support, maintaining corporate policies, guidelines, and charters, and responding to evolving regulatory expectations.
• Providing strategic, practical legal advice to accounting, finance, public relations, communications, investor relations, human resources, stock administration, tax, and treasury teams.
• Assisting on other legal matters such as M&A, cybersecurity, and subsidiary management, both domestic and international.
• Helping develop, implement, and continually improve company and team processes and procedures, including through the implementation of tools and innovative technologies.

Required Qualifications

• JD and an active U.S. license to practice.
• At least seven years of experience at a top‑tier law firm or in‑house legal department with substantial corporate and securities experience supporting a public company.

Other Qualifications

• Deep knowledge and experience with public company reporting requirements, especially executive compensation disclosures.
• Experience supporting executive compensation and equity programs at scale.
• Experience supporting capital markets transactions in a public company environment.
• High level of integrity, professionalism, intellectual curiosity, humility, and willingness to stretch.
• Impeccable written and oral communication skills, capable of communicating with legal and non‑legal audiences at all levels.
• Strong organizational, people, and project‑management skills, thriving in a fast‑paced, ever‑changing environment.
• Excellent at simplifying complex topics and finding streamlined solutions that manage risk appropriately.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively across teams, build relationships, and inspire collective achievement of corporate objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to use AI to improve speed and quality in day‑to‑day workflow.

Pay Transparency Statement

The annualized base salary ranges for the primary location and any additional locations are listed below. Workday pay ranges vary by work location. As part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the Workday Bonus Plan or a role‑specific commission/bonus, as well as annual refresh stock grants.

Primary Location: USA • CA • Pleasanton

Base Pay Range: $223,700 – $335,500 USD

Additional US Location(s) Base Pay Range: $188,900 – $335,500 USD

We combine in‑person time and remote work, spending at least half (50%) of the time each quarter in the office or in the field with customers, prospects, and partners. Remote “home‑office” roles can also come together in our offices for important moments.
