This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin's multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. As part of a diverse and hardworking team of engineers, you will contribute to the definition and development of spacecraft thermal control systems. You should be comfortable working in a fast-paced and often uncertain environment, contributing to innovative solutions, while demonstrating personal leadership, technical competence, and attention to detail. You will work directly with NASA and our National Team Partners as part of the Human Landing System (HLS) Sustaining Lunar Development (SLD) program. We are looking for an engineer to be responsible for the development and integration of the Pump Assembly as part of the SLD Crew Lander Thermal Systems Engineering Vehicle Team. In this role, you will drive component requirement development and determine performance requirements, interfaces, and allocated resources (mass, power, etc.) for all components within the Pump Assembly. The components consist of a pump and its motor, control electronics, thermal control valves, check valves, fluid accumulator, filters, pressure and temperature sensors, fluid and gas service valves, mounting plate, and assembly chassis. You will provide detailed environmental requirements (thermal, vibration, shock, electrical, EMI/EMC, ionizing radiation, harness, material compatibility, cleanliness). You will also be responsible for all technical, programmatic, and cost aspects of the Pump Assembly to ensure the pump assembly is delivered fully qualified before delivering it to vehicle assembly for integration and system-level testing. • Bachelor's degree or higher in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering
• 5+ years of relevant thermal engineering experience
• Project management experience; familiarity with budget, scheduling, and project management
• Strong grasp of heater transfer, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
• Experience and ability to work independently on rapid development programs
• Demonstrated experience in designing, sizing, building, testing, verifying, and validating aerospace hardware is required
• Professional experience applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
• Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Preferred Qualifications:

• 7+ years of relevant aerospace experience
• Demonstrated ability to own hardware or systems within an integrated engineering team in industry
• Experience with contract management, including but not limited to delivery negotiations, change requests, and managing internal or external suppliers
• Ability to perform trade studies using first principles and engineering fundamentals to make clear recommendations with partial information
• Experience designing, testing, and delivering fluid systems including pumps, valves, and accumulators
• Solid understanding and application of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T)
• Able to work well in an integrated collaborative team environment, including frequent interactions with other engineers, managers, and program leadership
• Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and written/oral communication skills - able to prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
