Facilities Project Manager

The Electric Boat shipyard is experiencing continued unprecedented growth of existing and recently acquired facilities for renovations and fit-out of new buildings. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to be part of a dynamic team responsible for shaping the future of the shipyard. General The candidate must be a motivated self-starter who can work independently and seek guidance when needed. The candidate must establish working relationships with facilities engineers, project managers, trade personnel, vendors, management, building officials, and the customer. Aptitude to read, understand, and perform duties in compliance with EB procedures, policies, and requirements is required. Safety Knowledge and application of OSHA 1910, 1915, and 1926 minimum requirements to enable adherence to Electric Boat’s Safety Manual and Contractor Safety, Health, and Regulations Manual. Project Management Oversee day‑to‑day construction activities and successfully execute multiple simultaneous projects. Engineering and developing the scope of work, preparing bid documents, vendor selection, securing funding, preparing purchase requisitions, project documents, and managing the holistic project. Maintain project quality, schedule, ROM estimate, budget, contract requirements, subcontractor compliance, suppliers, estimates, documentation, close‑out, turnover, and other duties required to execute. Run meetings and report project status of field and finances to management and senior leadership. Engineering Architectural: life safety, building envelopes, roofs, and FFE. Civil / Structural: docks, marine structures, underground utilities, roadways, rails (cranes and freight). Mechanical: Fluid based systems: fire protection, potable and sanitary sewage. Compressed air: low and high pressure. Compressed gas systems: nitrogen, argon, oxygen, and propane. Boiler and steam systems: commercial, industrial, land‑based steaming, and saltwater cooling. Water purification plants. Waste‑water treatment plant. HVAC: commercial, industrial, and submarine support. Electrical: distribution systems up to 34.5 kV, including substations, switchgear, transformers, and underground duct banks. All critical systems that support the Groton shipyard. Qualifications Associate of Applied Science (AAS) degree (or higher) in Engineering, Construction Management, or Architecture. 2+ years of experience in facilities engineering, plant engineering, or construction. Preferred BS or higher in Architecture or Construction Management. BS or higher in Engineering. 5+ years of experience in engineering or construction project management. 3+ years of leadership experience in an engineering or project management environment. Knowledge of State and Local Building Use and Codes. Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Professional Engineer (PE) license in Connecticut. Architect license in Connecticut. Experience with CMMS (Corrigo), Procurement (Oracle), and Construction Management Software (Procore). Skills Cross‑function, multi‑discipline knowledge in architectural, building envelope, civil, structural, mechanical, HVAC, electrical, plumbing disciplines. Questioning attitude and a desire to learn the disciplines. Excellent written and communication skills. Interface with Naval oversight and local building officials. Self‑motivated, able to work independently, good communication, and technical proficiency. Organized, able to manage multiple priorities. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, OneNote, Outlook, PowerPoint, Project, Word).
