$500 per month

Sculpture Digest

16 more call for artists! These have deadlines July 12-31, 2022. Whether you are looking for an exhibition, an art on loan program, or an opportunity for a sculpture commission, be sure to read through and find the right call for you. Be sure to also check out sculpture opportunities with deadlines in the first part of July at our previous call for artists which has 10 calls. Wastewater Management Building Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original public artwork, or series of artworks, for the Wastewater Management Building in the he Valverde Neighborhood Eligibility Requirements: Open to artists or artist teams residing in the state of Colorado. The selection panel is especially interested in artists who can demonstrate a deep understanding of the building’s occupants and the neighborhood, as well as the area’s history and urban landscape. Special Notes: Project goals: The panel is invested in creating a space for employees of the building to gather and take pride in; one that is inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all. The panel is committed to celebrating the civic complex, and elevating staff voices and the important work they do every day. The panel hopes to see artwork(s) that celebrate and complement the architectural style of the building. The building is adjacent to the South Platte River and there is an opportunity to tell the story of wastewater management and the processes of returning water to the environment safely, as well as the story of climate change and its impact on wastewater management. Artists should also consider the existing artwork on the eastside of the building and how it could relate to the new work(s). Summary: The City of Denver’s Public Art Program seeks to commission an artist or team of artists to create an original public artwork, or series of artworks, for the Larimer Bridge – Connecting Auraria project located on Larimer Street between 14th Street and the Auraria Campus, in Downtown Denver, CO 80202. While a preferred location has not been selected, the panel is open to artwork that could be located anywhere within or near the project limits. Eligibility Requirements: While a preferred location has not been selected, the panel is open to artwork that could be located anywhere within or near the project limits. Special Notes: The panel is invested in creating connections between the Auraria Campus and Downtown Denver. Currently the campus feels separated and isolated from the downtown core; successful artwork will help to bridge the two neighborhoods. The panel is very invested in honoring the people who once inhabited the area and elevating the stories of those who were displaced. Given the proximity of Cherry Creek and the South Platte River, the panel is also invested in the natural history of the land and the relationship of people to the land. The panel seeks to commission artwork that is inclusive, accessible and welcoming to all. The panel is also invested in artwork that activates the space, but also seeks artwork that creates a moment to pause and reflect. Artists should also consider the existing artworks in the immediate area and how they could relate to the new work(s). The panel would particularly like to encourage emerging and indigenous artists to apply. The panel is interested in artwork that is vibrant and playful, and that invokes a sense of excitement for those who view it. Bible Park is a gem in the city’s park system and not as well-known as other parks. The panel sees an opportunity to create artwork that provides a sense of place and puts Bible Park on the map.
