Senior Project Engineer - Mining
Location: Chandler, AZ

Our Arizona Mining group has an immediate need for a Senior Project Engineer to support clients in completing feasibility studies and detailed engineering projects for underground and surface mining operations, with an emphasis on copper processing.

Key Responsibilities

• Work in full compliance with health and safety rules and regulations
• Ensure applicable safety codes, regulations, and guidelines are met through appropriate design and technology use
• Own the technical quality, integration, and compliance of all project deliverables across disciplines
• Partner closely with the Project Manager to verify technical scope, risk, schedule, and budget alignment
• Review and analyze drawings for potential safety and constructability issues before client issuance
• Provide clients with engineering support and incorporate feedback into future requirements efficiently
• Serve as primary technical authority linking the execution team and project management team
• Manage and direct a team of engineers and designers through scoping, asset integrity assessments, feasibility studies, detailed engineering, and construction/commissioning support
• Interface directly with clients on technical issues, and surface value opportunities and risks to the project team
• Implement, maintain, and adjust engineering processes, including quality control steps and hazard/constructability review programs
• Own, monitor, and report on engineering budget and progress, and manage engineering/procurement/construction schedules
• Provide technical leadership for proposals, translating client requirements into execution strategies and deliverables
• Support pursuit and campaign efforts by assessing scope definition, technical risk, and project viability
• Lead and coach multidisciplinary technical meetings, synthesizing subject matter expert input into clear direction
• Contribute to client and market development through cross-team collaboration
• Deliver engineering deliverables on schedule per corporate and project standards
• Coordinate engineering involvement in procurement and construction packages, including scopes of work, technical bid evaluations, and RFI responses

Qualifications

• Self-starter able to handle change and work with minimal supervision
• Willing to challenge their own work and others' in pursuit of quality and safety
• Strong knowledge of applicable design codes and Mine Health and Safety regulations
• Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with willingness to support technical business development
• Previous experience as a Project Engineer on detailed engineering or construction projects with a consulting firm or owner's team
• Previous experience in design, specification, and installation supervision of mine processing plants (milling, refining, and/or smelting)
• Underground mining or industrial HVAC system design experience preferred
• Mining material handling and conveyance system design experience preferred
• Willingness to travel to client sites or other offices (approximately 10 percent)
• Valid driver's license required

Education and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited university
• 10 to 20 years of engineering, design, and construction experience in heavy industry, particularly surface or underground mining
• Professional Engineering license preferred, or ability to become licensed
