Job Title: Cleanroom Technician / Quality Control CMM Inspector

Job Description

This Quality Control Inspector role supports a precision manufacturing facility by ensuring that aerospace and defense components and assemblies meet strict customer, quality, and engineering requirements such as AS9100. You will perform mechanical and visual inspections, operate inspection tools and CMM equipment, interpret GD&T and drawings, and clearly communicate inspection results to the manufacturing team. This position works in a fast-paced cleanroom and machine shop environment on a Monday through Friday second shift schedule from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.

Responsibilities

• Perform first piece, work-in-process, and final inspections, including detailed visual inspections of precision-machined components and assemblies.
• Support manufacturing by conducting mechanical and visual inspections on first piece parts to validate conformance to drawings and specifications.
• Measure parts using hand tools, mechanical inspection tools, and CMM equipment, and compare results to engineering drawings and customer specifications.
• Record, maintain, and organize quality records and inspection documentation in accordance with internal and external standards.
• Accurately and thoroughly communicate inspection results, findings, and relevant information to the manufacturing team to support quality and production goals.
• Perform customer First Article Inspections (FAI) and document results in compliance with customer and industry requirements.
• Initiate Non-Conforming Material Reports (NCMR) for any discrepancies identified during inspection and ensure appropriate documentation.
• Collaborate effectively with peers and manufacturing staff, contributing to team-based problem solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, ISO9001:2008, NADCAP, and internal quality standards in all inspection activities.
• Assist with various related tasks as needed to support production, quality control, and cleanroom operations.

Essential Skills

• Experience performing first piece, work-in-process, and final inspections in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with mechanical inspection tools and hand tools for measuring precision components.
• Hands-on experience operating or supporting CMM inspection activities.
• Ability to interpret and apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of AS9100 quality management system requirements.
• Experience in quality control and mechanical inspection for aerospace, defense, or similar precision industries.
• Strong communication skills to clearly convey inspection results and collaborate with manufacturing teams.
• Ability to accurately record, maintain, and manage quality and inspection records.
• Capability to identify non-conformances and initiate Non-Conforming Material Reports.
• Comfort working in a cleanroom and manufacturing machine shop environment.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with ITAR requirements and their impact on inspection and documentation practices.
• Experience performing customer First Article Inspections (FAI).
• Exposure to ISO9001:2008 and NADCAP standards in a manufacturing or quality environment.
• Background in supporting continuous improvement efforts within a production setting.
• Ability to multitask and assist with various related tasks as needed in a fast-paced environment.

Work Environment

This role is based in a manufacturing machine shop and cleanroom environment that can be loud and fast paced, supporting advanced manufacturing and technology operations. You will work around precision equipment and fluid delivery subsystems used in semiconductor capital equipment, with exposure to noise, dust, and temperature variations. Personal protective equipment (PPE) is required and provided, and operations follow AS9100, ISO9001:2008, and NADCAP standards. The position follows a Monday through Friday second shift schedule from 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and you will work closely with production and quality teams on the shop floor.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Livermore, CA.

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $33.35/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
