Duties

Help

• Serve as the principal advisor and senior consultant for the Defense legislative process to ensure a favorable and effective military health care program.
• Direct and monitor all legislative activities for the Executive Director for Defense Health Agency.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for all Congressional interactions.
• Analyze potential improvements to existing Department of Defense health care delivery and financing programs, and develops plans and strategies for new programs.
• Serve as the principal staff advisor and consultant on matters and issues pertaining to the development, acquisition, implementation, and operational oversight/management of managed health care programs and contracts.
• Exercise a full range of supervisory authority for subordinate staff.
• Provides administrative guidance and the technical requirements and descriptions of the work to be accomplished.
• Establish and maintain upward mobility, and complaint resolution procedures in accordance with agency policies.

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes analyze legislative and policy issues to support senior-leader decision-making, develop and assess health policy initiatives to advance organizational goals, and manage program activities to support effective operations.

This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-14).

Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience aloneno substitution of education for experience is permitted.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-14).
