MedStar Washington Hospital Center (MWHC) is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join our team in a combined Inpatient and ConsultationLiaison (C/L) Psychiatry role at one of the region's leading academic medical centers.
This position offers a dynamic blend of hospital-based psychiatric care, interdisciplinary collaboration, and academic involvement within a major tertiary care hospital.
Clinical Responsibilities
- Provide psychiatric consultation services for patients admitted to the medical and surgical units as part of a well-established ConsultationLiaison Psychiatry team
- Deliver comprehensive psychiatric care to inpatients on a multidisciplinary team in our state-of-the-art inpatient psychiatric unit (opened April 2026)
- Collaborate closely with physicians, nurses, social workers, and other specialists to support integrated, whole-person care
Academic & Teaching Opportunities
- Work with and teach medical students from Georgetown University School of Medicine
- Supervise and collaborate with MedStar Georgetown psychiatry residents
- Engage with a ConsultationLiaison Psychiatry fellow as part of an academically focused service
This role is ideal for a psychiatrist who enjoys a strong academic environment and values teaching and mentorship.
Qualifications
- Board certified or board eligible in Psychiatry
- Eligible for medical licensure in Washington, DC
- Fellowship training in ConsultationLiaison Psychiatry preferred
- Demonstrated interest in teaching and academic psychiatry strongly desired
