Clearance Requirement Clearance Requirement: Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain & maintain HSPD & Secret, preferred HSPD‑12 & Secret Active. License & Certification Requirements District of Columbia: A valid Steam Engineer license (3rd, 2nd, or 1st Class) Maryland: A valid Stationary Engineer license (Grade 4 through Grade 1) Other Jurisdictions: Equivalent municipal or state Operating Engineer licenses, or an equivalent VMET certification Shift Availability

  1. st shift – 6:00 AM – 2:30 PM, Monday‑Friday
  2. nd shift – 12:30 PM – 11:00 PM, Monday‑Thursday
  3. rd shift – 10:00 PM – 8:30 AM, Monday‑Thursday
  4. th shift – 7:00 AM – 7:30 PM, Friday‑Sunday
  5. th shift – 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM, Friday‑Sunday
Responsibilities Maintenance and Operation: Safely operate, maintain, and monitor boilers, HVAC systems, refrigeration units, and other stationary equipment. Must be experienced in maintenance and repairs on Commercial‑Industrial building equipment, including chillers (±500 tons), boilers, pumps, control systems, air handlers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, VAVs, and VFDs. Candidates should demonstrate practical knowledge of Chiller Plant Operations, read and understand blueprints, schematics, and specifications, and handle building air systems. Ability to respond to service calls of gas‑fired boilers, chillers, AHUs, fire pumps, generators, UPS, ATS, BAS, and Fire Alarm operations. Routine Inspections: Conduct regular inspections to identify potential issues, ensuring equipment is operating within set parameters and adhering to safety standards. Respond to service calls by determining the problem, identifying the cause, and implementing a solution. Complete required documentation using the site CMMS system. Observe and interpret readings on gauges, meters, and charts. Adjust controls to ensure safe and efficient operation and record logs. Perform preventive maintenance per site‑approved job plans and company standards. Troubleshooting: Diagnose malfunctioning systems and components, identify root causes, and implement effective solutions. Documentation: Maintain detailed records of all inspections, maintenance activities, repairs, and replacements. Log all operations in compliance with organizational standards. Compliance: Ensure operations adhere to all local, state, and federal regulations and standards related to stationary equipment operations. Collaboration: Coordinate with other maintenance, operations, and engineering teams to ensure seamless operation and timely resolution of issues. Relay questions, progress, and information requirements, and initiate follow‑up action when required in a timely manner. Emergency Response: Act as a first responder during any stationary equipment emergencies, implementing safety procedures and addressing issues promptly. Continuous Learning: Stay updated with the latest trends, equipment, and best practices in the field, attending workshops and training as necessary. Qualifications High school diploma or GED with a minimum of 10+ years of facilities maintenance experience. Applicants selected will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information; ability to obtain & maintain HSPD & Secret, preferred HSPD‑12 & Secret Active. Applicants selected for this position shall possess demonstrated experience in the operation, monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting of central utility plant and institutional mechanical systems supporting mission‑critical, government, commercial high‑rise, healthcare, laboratory, industrial, campus, or other complex facilities environments. Strong problem‑solving skills. Excellent communication abilities, both written and verbal. Ability to read and interpret technical documentation including sequence of operations, technical product literature, programming manuals and specifications. Preferred Qualifications Manufacturer chiller training/certification (Trane, Johnson Controls/York, Carrier, Daikin, etc.) BAS/DDC platform training (Schneider Electric, Niagara, Honeywell, Siemens, Johnson Controls Metasys, etc.) Boiler combustion or burner management training NETA/NFPA/ASME‑related operational familiarity Industrial or institutional mechanical systems training Benefits A competitive salary Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability insurance Paid time off Tuition reimbursement 401(k) Retirement Plan Military Reserve pay offset Paid maternity leave Abilities The position requires the ability to lift, carry, and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds on a regular basis. Candidates must demonstrate physical strength and stamina to perform various tasks, including but not limited to loading, unloading, operating equipment, and assisting in the transportation of materials. Proper lifting techniques and safety protocols must be followed to ensure personal and team safety. Relocate a 12‑foot stepladder without assistance. Work at various heights up to 60 feet and can climb and maintain balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and all types of ladders. Walk, climb, lift, squat, crawl, kneel, push, pull, and reach overhead on a routine and repetitive basis. Possess good vision (may be corrected), the ability to see in color, and the ability to hear and communicate in English. May use a standard ladder without exceeding the weight limit while carrying tools. Tell when something is wrong or is likely to go wrong. It does not involve solving the problem, only recognizing there is a problem. Apply general rules to specific problems to produce answers that make sense. Combine pieces of information to form general rules or conclusions (including finding a relationship among seemingly unrelated events). See details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
