Grounds Technician - Seasonal

Job Overview Join our team as a Grounds Technician and help keep our parks safe, clean, and beautiful! You'll perform a variety of maintenance tasks, including trimming, weeding, and ensuring restrooms and park facilities are in top shape. Key Responsibilities Operate weed eaters, rakes, blowers, and other equipment in 42 parks and medians. Load equipment, including pole saws, weed eaters, blowers, hedgers, chainsaws, and generators onto trucks and trailers and drive to job sites. Prune and remove dead or damaged trees and shrubs. Perform minor playground assembly and concrete work. Prepare for special events such as Christmas, tournaments, Special Olympics, and Fourth of July. Conduct preventative maintenance, checking and changing oil, and performing minor repairs on equipment (vehicle, pole saw, chain saw, blower, weed eater). Perform all other related duties as assigned. Additional Responsibilities Maintain daily cleanliness of restrooms, collect litter, apply paint, and perform minor repairs on facilities, equipment, park furnishings, and amenities. Required Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record (must obtain a Texas driver’s license within 90 days). Preferred Qualifications Previous lawn maintenance experience. Other Employment Terms Attendance is an essential function of this position. The City reserves the right to require overtime and to require service during emergency situations, including evacuations.
