Accounts Payable Specialist

We are actively interviewing candidates for an Accounts Payable Specialist opportunity with a well-established organization in Fairfax County, VA. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented accounting professional who thrives in a high-volume environment and is passionate about process accuracy and efficiency. The successful candidate will join a collaborative finance team and play a key role in managing the full accounts payable cycle. Key Responsibilities Process a high volume of vendor invoices accurately and in a timely manner, ensuring proper coding and approvals Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies through direct communication with vendors and internal stakeholders Prepare and process weekly check runs, ACH payments, and wire transfers Maintain accurate vendor master files, including W-9 documentation and 1099 preparation Assist with month-end close activities, including AP accruals and aging report analysis Support internal and external audits by providing documentation and responding to inquiries Identify opportunities to improve AP workflows and contribute to process improvement initiatives Collaborate with procurement and department managers to resolve PO matching issues Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required 2–4 years of accounts payable or general accounting experience Proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar); strong Excel skills Solid understanding of AP best practices, internal controls, and GAAP principles Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills for vendor and cross-functional collaboration Experience with 1099 processing and year-end tax compliance is a plus #J-18808-Ljbffr SpectrumCareers
