Job Summary: The Marketing and Communications Senior Project Manager is responsible for planning, implementing and tracking complex projects throughout the healthcare system, including but not limited to communications and marketing projects. This position provides senior-level project management leadership; aligns skills and resources, internal and external, needed to achieve objectives; and monitors, manages and tracks implementation and stakeholder review through completion. The Senior Project Manager understands organizational strategy, priorities and constraints, and aligns Marketing and Communications Department initiatives accordingly. The position steers and runs the master intake system for governance, helping ensure requests are reviewed, prioritized and advanced in alignment with department and organizational goals. This role is trusted to exercise independent decision-making and sound judgment, including appropriate handling of sensitive and confidential information. The position contributes to executing key strategic marketing initiatives and to growing the organization's brand presence in the local market. The position is responsible for communication with stakeholders and providers across the system, serving as a senior liaison to manage projects ranging from marketing campaigns, communications plans and digital programs. This position encourages timely, accurate and complete communication between all stakeholders. The person in this position delegates projects to internal and external resources, sets and manages timelines, coordinates and tracks projects through to completion, and serves as a resource and mentor to other project management team members. This position supports and ensures maintenance of Skagit Regional Health brand standards.
Essential Functions: Serves as a key leader and member of the Marketing and Communications team, responsible for planning, assignment, managing and tracking communications and marketing projects throughout the healthcare system. Works as a liaison with all levels of the organization across diverse areas to advance communications and marketing. Uses strong organizational and time management skills to ensure successful and timely project and plan completion. Provides senior-level oversight of projects: accepts project requests from system stakeholders; steers and runs the master intake system for governance; takes requests forward for consideration by the team; applies trusted judgment to prioritize and route work; assigns projects to internal or external resources; tracks project progress; and keeps records and archive of completion. In concert with the Regional Director of Marketing and Communications, this position contributes to architecting the Department's annual project roadmap; steers the annual marketing and content calendar; and ensures timely initiation, work and completion of projects and communications plans. Understands organizational strategy, operational realities and resource constraints, and aligns Marketing and Communications initiatives accordingly. Makes independent, well-informed decisions within scope and escalates appropriately when needed. Maintains confidence with sensitive information and uses discretion in communications, planning and stakeholder engagement. Applies historical knowledge of programs, relationships, decisions and prior work to support continuity, consistency and informed decision-making. Maintains strong communications and relationships with external vendors, including digital marketing and advertising, video, graphic design, wayfinding, signage, print and other vendors. Provides metrics reports and updates on a regular basis, from internal and external sources. Mentors other project management staff, shares best practices and serves as a resource for project management processes, tools and stakeholder navigation. Serves as a member of the Public Information Officer team and is part of the on-call PIO rotation. Participates in performance, process and quality improvement initiatives as requested. Completes all mandatory learning requirements in a timely manner. Maintains current licensure and/or certification as required. Attends and actively participates in all department, team and/or committee meetings. Complies with all Skagit Regional Health, department and location specific policies and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned by Supervisor or designee.
Education: Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, journalism, project management or other related field required. Combination of education and Marketing or Project Management experience may be substituted in lieu of education.
Experience/Training: Previous experience initiating, developing and implementing marketing strategies and communications projects is required. Prior experience managing complex, cross-functional projects, intake processes, governance workflows or senior stakeholder relationships strongly preferred. Prior experience in healthcare related field strongly preferred.
License/Certifications: Project Management Institute (PMI), Lean Six Sigma, or Total Quality Management (TQM) certification required within 36 months of hire.
Other Skills: Exceptional writing, editing and interpersonal communications skills required. Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with service standards. Experience using project management software. Proficient with the full suite of Microsoft Office and Adobe programs. Ability to manage multiple competing objectives. Strong organizational and coordination skills, ability to develop and adhere to timelines and schedules in order to meet project deadlines. Ability to lead others and to communicate the importance of the project to stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to exercise independent decision-making, maintain confidentiality, apply historical knowledge for continuity and align work to organizational priorities and constraints. Ability to mentor other project managers and serve as a resource for project management best practices. Understands principles of change management and user adoption. Ability to consistently demonstrate positive communication style, strong critical thinking skills and a creative and collaborative approach to problem solving required. Approach problems constructively by focusing on how to move the project forward.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for long periods of time when working in office. Repetitive tasks such as typing, sitting, answering phones, and interacting with computers and computer systems most of the day is a function of the position. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus. This position requires working in an indoor, environmentally controlled environment when in the office. This position is remote-hybrid eligible. Must be able to work independently with little supervision in a home environment with privacy.
