Imaging Specialist - Radiology

Scheduled Hours: 40 hours per week Position Summary Performs professional aspects of the MRI services including protocoling patients, scheduling special studies, providing assistance for certain MRI procedures, quality assurance and monitoring. Assists with and facilitates communications among radiology attendings, fellows and resident physicians, MRI technologists, referring physicians and their offices, physician extenders and patients. Primary Duties & Responsibilities Protocol patients for MRI procedures, obtain necessary information to facilitate completion of study in accordance with established guidelines. Answer protocol questions from radiology technologists and refer providers in an appropriate and timely manner. Coordinate issues revolving around elevated creatinine, renal failure and dialysis, including obtaining required patient information in advance of study. Review pre-protocol information provided by patient and referring physician’s office and perform chart review for care coordination of complex issues and contraindications. Review outpatient orders for completeness and appropriateness, place corrected orders for referring physicians. Coordinate and schedule MRI guided biopsies and special studies: receive requests, perform chart review and patient assessment to confirm appropriateness, communicate and schedule in advance, verifying information in accordance with established protocols. Schedule procedures, coordinate with relevant staff physician schedules to ensure adequate expertise, and communicate and educate patients on all pre-procedure prep, placing orders for any adjunctive preparation. Assist with activities that are the Radiologist’s responsibilities in the performance of MRI scanning including coordinating requests for review of MRI studies done at outside institutions and performing colon insufflations, virtual colonoscopies, or other special procedures. Working Conditions The job is located in a normal office environment or patient care environment. The work typically involves sitting at a desk or table and using office equipment. Required Qualifications Associate degree or equivalent education and experience. Certification and registration in Radiography (R) with ARRT. Registered Nurse licensure from the Missouri Division of Professional Registration. Minimum 2 years' experience in MRI/CT procedures and patient workflow management with imaging studies. Driver’s license not required. Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Health Sciences. Minimum 3 years’ experience in Patient Care Support. Strong communication skills, detail-oriented, capable of working independently. Salary Grade C12-H; hourly rate of $29.80 to $46.19.
