Credit Review Senior Portfolio Specialist

Job Description This role is a Portfolio Specialist in Credit Review, working closely with Portfolio Managers to develop and implement a risk‑based coverage plan for specific portfolios or sets of portfolios. The specialist evaluates credit decisions and processes across the bank’s credit platform, identifies emerging risks, and reports findings to stakeholders including senior management, regulatory bodies, and external auditors. Responsibilities Lead examinations as an Examiner‑in‑Charge (EIC) or Assistant Examiner‑in‑Charge (AEIC) and perform transactional testing of credit process execution. Conduct secondary reviews of transaction testing completed by other examiners. Manage fieldwork capacity to ensure accurate and timely Credit Review examinations. Coach, mentor, and review the work product of new or junior team members. Maintain working relationships with risk and regulatory partners to discuss key issues and emerging risks. Assist Portfolio Managers with quarterly Business Assessment Reports and Coverage Plans; keep abreast of current economic trends impacting credit portfolios. Track and follow observations from exams and testing; provide regulator updates and respond to inquiries. Collaborate with Corporate Audit to ensure ongoing awareness of review activity and risk assessment. Manage issues, including approval of issue severity ratings, action plans, ongoing status tracking, and issue validation oversight. Drive continuous improvement by leading or participating in complex projects. Produce quality, timely work and maintain well‑written, easy‑to‑follow work papers in accordance with Credit Review guidelines. Qualifications Minimum of 8–10 years of direct commercial credit experience (direct lending, underwriting, workout, credit review, risk management, or regulatory). Ability to support conclusions through fact‑based analysis and influence senior leaders. Excellent credit analysis, project management, and leadership skills. Experience in risk management, lending, and/or regulatory agencies. Strong organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to manage multiple complex tasks while delivering high quality results. Data manipulation and analysis skills. Experience leading without authority. Bachelor’s Degree in finance, accounting, economics, or another business concentration (preferred). Desired Qualifications 10+ years of direct commercial credit experience. Experience managing traded products and complex structured financing facilities with global institutional clients. Proven ability to identify, assess, and report on emerging risks. Direct applicability to Credit Review responsibilities. Coaching and mentoring experience for new or less experienced associates. Proficiency in Excel and AI tools to enhance productivity.
