About the Position

PF Plumbing is seeking an experienced New Construction Manager to take ownership of our residential and commercial new construction plumbing business from bid through final inspection .

This is a leadership position for someone who understands both the business and field sides of new construction plumbing . You will be responsible for winning work, ensuring jobs are priced for profitability, managing schedules and production, and leading our Field Managers and Estimator.

You will also serve as a key point of contact for builders, general contractors and superintendents.

Success in this role means maintaining a strong bid pipeline, hitting builder schedules, delivering quality plumbing installations and protecting job margins from bid through closeout.

What You'll Do

Business Development & Builder Relationships

• Build and maintain relationships with production builders, custom builders, general contractors and developers

• Own the new construction pipeline and identify new opportunities

• Get PF Plumbing added to builder and contractor bid lists

• Track bids from invitation through award

• Set pricing strategy and approve bids and proposals

• Review margins, exclusions and change-order terms before proposals are submitted

• Walk plans with builders and negotiate scope, pricing and payment terms

• Close contracts and ensure awarded projects are properly handed off

• Follow up on lost bids to understand why the work was not awarded

• Grow repeat business by winning additional communities, phases and plans with existing builders

• Maintain an accurate and current bid board

Estimating & Pricing

• Assign and prioritize bids based on value and likelihood of winning the work

• Establish turnaround expectations for takeoffs and proposals

• Hold the Estimator accountable for bid deadlines

• Review takeoffs, material counts, labor hours and pricing for accuracy

• Maintain labor units, material pricing, markup and overhead factors

• Keep material pricing current with suppliers

• Update open bids when material costs change

• Compare estimated versus actual costs on completed jobs

• Adjust estimating models when jobs miss projected costs or margins

• Coach the Estimator on plan reading, plumbing codes, scope gaps and exclusions

• Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with the Estimator

• Assist directly with estimating when workload requires it

Production & Scheduling

• Build and manage the master schedule across all active new construction projects

• Coordinate underground, rough-in, top-out and trim/final phases

• Communicate with builder superintendents weekly to confirm job readiness

• Balance crews and workloads across Field Managers

• Ensure builder deadlines and scheduled completion dates are met

• Handle day-to-day challenges including callouts, weather, missing materials and job-site issues

• Forecast labor needs 30–90 days in advance

• Communicate future hiring needs to the General Manager

• Visit active job sites regularly

• Be present for initial phases when beginning work with a new builder

Lead the Field Team

• Set daily and weekly priorities for Field Managers

• Conduct weekly production meetings

• Hold Field Managers accountable for crew productivity, labor hours, quality and job-site conduct

• Conduct weekly one-on-one meetings with Field Managers

• Coach and develop field leadership

• Handle performance reviews and corrective action when necessary

• Support hiring, onboarding and training of plumbers and apprentices

• Help create development paths from helper to lead positions

Quality, Code & Safety

• Ensure plumbing installations meet plans, local plumbing codes and builder requirements

• Manage permits and inspections

• Track failed inspections and ensure issues are corrected quickly

• Manage punch lists, warranty calls and callbacks through resolution

• Maintain strong safety expectations throughout the field operation

• Enforce proper PPE, trenching, ladder and driving practices

• Ensure trucks and tools are properly stocked and maintained

Job Cost & Billing

• Track labor, material and subcontractor costs against each project's original bid

• Identify and address cost overruns before jobs close

• Write, price and obtain approval for change orders before additional work is performed

• Confirm phase completion so billing is submitted on time

• Assist with past-due builder balances when necessary

• Coordinate material ordering and staging with Purchasing and the warehouse

• Reduce material delays and unnecessary waste

What We're Looking For

Required

• 5+ years of residential or light commercial new construction plumbing experience

• 2+ years of experience leading crews or supervisors

• Proven experience selling to or managing relationships with builders and general contractors

• Strong plan-reading skills

• Experience with takeoffs and estimating

• Strong understanding of job costing

• Working knowledge of local plumbing codes

• Knowledge of permitting and inspection processes

• Comfortable using estimating software, CRM/bid-board systems, Excel and scheduling tools

• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record

• Strong leadership and communication skills

• Highly organized and able to manage multiple active projects

• Ability to remain calm under pressure while holding teams accountable

Preferred

• Journeyman or Master Plumber license

• Experience working with production builders across multiple communities

• Experience with job-level profit or P&L accountability

• Background with a high-volume residential new construction plumbing company

Physical Requirements

• Ability to walk active construction sites in varying weather conditions

• Comfortable working on uneven terrain

• Ability to climb ladders

• Ability to access crawlspaces and attics

• Ability to kneel, bend and crawl for short periods
