Leveraging rigorous engineering principles, the team integrates safety into every phase of the system lifecycle, enhancing reliability and safeguarding our warfighters.Location: Goleta, CA or El Segundo, CA.What You Will DoDevelop and implement MIL-STD-882E compliant system safety programs and perform associated tasks, analyses, and planningConduct hazard and design analyses to ensure compliance with system requirements, customer specifications, and military standardsCollaborate with customer safety representatives to clarify system requirements and ensure proper allocation to software, hardware, and test personnelCoordinate with customer safety representatives and Safety Review Board authorities to gain safety approvalManage System Safety Working Groups with Raytheon and customer representativesWork across integrated product teams and engineering disciplines, including Systems Engineering, Software/Firmware, Electrical, and Hardware Engineering, to eliminate hazards or implement effective controlsCollaborate across multiple disciplines to gain a comprehensive understanding of product architecture and designSupport safety efforts from program startup through production, demilitarization, and disposal phasesBrief safety considerations and program status during technical reviews and approval processesInterpret system requirements, specifications, and military standards.Prepare internal and customer-facing reports detailing safety analyses and program results.Work within Special Access Program environments as required.Qualifications You Must HaveTypically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experienceExperience with System Safety Engineering and/or Software Safety EngineeringExperience with complex systems and evaluating them for riskQualifications We PreferExperience developing and implementing MIL-STD-882E System Safety Program tasks and analyses, involving management (task series 100), analysis (task series 200), evaluation (task series 300), and verification (task series 400). This includes hardware and software safety related tasksExperience with DoD System Safety Programs e.g. MIL-STD-882 / DO-178Experience with presentation skillsExperience solving complex problems by leveraging available resources and research materialExperience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) and Proposal DevelopmentExperience interfacing with Human Systems Integration showcasing execution of Human Factors Engineering tasking involving MIL-STD-1472.Experience with Engineering Change Proposals, Engineering Review Boards, System Safety Working GroupsThis position requires the ability to obtain a security clearance. DCSA Consolidated Adjudication Services (DCSA CAS), an agency of the Department of Defense, handles and adjudicates the security clearance process. More information about Security Clearances can be found on the US Department of State government website.The salary range for this role is 95,500 USD - 181,700 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
