ASSISTANT PARK MANAGER – ROCKIN' RIVER RANCH STATE PARK Job Location: 4513 S. Salt Mine Road, Camp Verde, AZ 86322 POSTING DETAILS Salary: $21.50 - $24.50 per hour Grade: 18 Closing Date: July 14, 2026 JOB SUMMARY Under general direction of the Park Manager, oversee and supervise daily operations of Rockin’ River Ranch State Park. Assist park administration, including instruction, training, and counselling of subordinate staff. Perform a variety of park tasks, problem‑solving, and decision making. Ensure public safety by enforcing park rules and regulations. Assist in maintenance, landscaping, interpretation, janitorial, and customer‑service duties. Must work weekends and holidays. JOB DUTIES Park Operation Management Responsible for daily administration and operation of the park. Assist the Park Manager in oversight and operations of customer service, interpretive planning, park development, operating budget, and administrative tasks. Communicate regularly with the Park Manager on operational and personnel issues. Work independently and in groups to identify and address park needs. Maintenance, Landscaping, and Safety Perform and supervise maintenance, landscaping, and janitorial tasks on buildings and grounds. Conduct regular inspections to establish maintenance projects and identify safety issues. Assist with supply inventory and equipment maintenance. Maintain park safety, environmental, cultural, and natural resources. Establish maintenance standards for repairs, preventive maintenance, and projects. Use visual management tools correctly. Leadership and Staff Development Lead direct reports to solve problems and achieve park goals. Develop and mentor staff using best management practices. Assist with employee work schedules, hiring, training, and performance management. Ensure staff compliance with guidelines and evaluate performance. Provide staff training and coordinate with HR for employee issues. Customer Service, Interpretation, and Communication Provide accurate interpretation and customer service to the public. Collaborate and maintain positive relationships with visitors and stakeholders. Operate visitor center and entrance station, greeting visitors, selling passes, and managing store items. Oversee groups and service projects. Administration and Budget Management & Procurement Complete daily administrative tasks such as money handling, deposits, revenue reports, and incident reports. Assist the Park Manager in overseeing operating, donation, and related budgets. Adhere to procurement, accounting, and record‑keeping standards. Directly responsible for expenditures and accountability for park purchases. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs) Sound knowledge of park operations, safety standards, and resource protection. Experience with budgeting, financial management, and procurement. Interpretation techniques and philosophy. Personnel management and supervisory practices. Verbal and written communication, public speaking, CPR, and First Aid. Basic vehicle repair and facility maintenance concepts. Proficiency in electronic office equipment (PCs, cash registers, digital camera). SELECTIVE PREFERENCE Bachelor’s degree in Parks and Recreation Management or related field and/or 3 years experience in park management, staff management, budget, and general park operations is preferred. PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS First Aid and CPR certifications; Class D Motor Vehicle Driver’s License; ability to obtain Emergency Medical Technician and/or Waste/Water Management certifications if required.
