Business Development Representative

New York, NY (Manhattan) | On-site | Full-time | $90K base + commission + equity

Careerscape is hiring Business Development Representatives on behalf of a fast-growing, venture-backed AI startup in New York. The company builds AI agents for the CFO office that plug into a company's existing finance stack (ERP, banks, billing, payroll, CRM, contracts and spreadsheets) and automate the work behind order-to-cash, the monthly close, treasury and audit readiness, so finance teams review exceptions while the AI does the rest.

This is a founding BDR cohort. The sales team plans to more than triple by early next year, and the BDR team is the farm system for Account Executive seats, with promotions based on discipline, coachability and results. You'll be coached by a Head of Sales Development who built a top fintech company's SDR team from 3 to 30 people, and you'll work directly with the CRO and the AEs you book for.

What you'll do

• Own a vertical, not a list: run outbound into one segment of $100M–$1B companies (such as B2B software, CPG, manufacturing, distribution, construction, hospitality or health services) and become the team's expert on it
• Live on the phone: about four hours a day of cold calls to CFOs, Controllers and VPs of Finance, with email and LinkedIn layered in
• Book and hold 12–15 qualified meetings a month at full ramp, and hand each one to your AE with a clear brief
• Work inbound leads in your segment the same day they come in
• Research every account before you dial: ERP, close process, PE backing and hiring signals
• Keep HubSpot clean, and help write and test the talk tracks and sequences that become the playbook for the next wave of BDRs

What we're looking for

• Either 2+ years at a Big Four accounting firm (CPA background a plus), or 6 months to 2 years as a BDR/SDR at a fintech or finance software company selling into the office of the CFO
• Articulate and well-spoken, with real executive presence on the phone
• Steady tenure (no pattern of sub-1-year roles)
• Bonus: college athletics, a founder stint, client-facing finance or consulting experience, a top school, or an accounting, audit or FP&A background
• Able to work on-site 5 days a week in Manhattan
