Job Title: Rebuild Welder Job Description

This role works in the Rebuild Department and focuses on welding and repairing metal components for industrial shredders. You will prepare, weld, and finish cutter components, ensuring they meet defined specifications and quality standards while working in a busy fabrication shop environment.

• Grind and prepare cutters using a 9-inch hand air grinder according to established procedures.
• Perform hard-facing welding on cutters to restore and enhance wear surfaces.
• Grind cutter profiles using a hand air grinder and profile grinder to meet dimensional requirements.
• Operate an air hoist and forklift to move and position heavy parts and assemblies safely.
• Use a cutting torch and propane pre-heat equipment as required for fabrication and repair work.
• Check and verify the quality of all personal welds, including size, spacing, and overall appearance.
• Identify cutter size and sweep size accurately before and after fabrication.
• Clean parts thoroughly prior to fabrication to ensure proper weld integrity.
• Fabricate parts according to prints and specifications, following shop standards and procedures.
• Maintain welding equipment, including welder, tips, guns, and hood, to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Keep the work area clean, organized, and free of debris to support a safe and efficient workflow.
• Perform general labor tasks, including heavy lifting and material handling, in support of fabrication and rebuild activities.

• Experience using a 9-inch hand grinder in a labor-intensive metalworking or fabrication environment.
• Ability to perform welding tasks, including hard-facing on metal components.
• Capability to lift 50 pounds consistently throughout the shift.
• Comfort working in a general labor role that involves heavy lifting, metal grinding, and fabrication.
• Familiarity with metal grinding using hand grinders and profile grinders.
• Ability to operate an overhead crane, air hoist, and forklift or willingness to learn.
• Experience or strong interest in metalworking, fabrication, or industrial shop work.
• Ability to check and verify weld quality, including size, spacing, and overall finish.
• Comfort working around cutting torches, propane pre-heat equipment, and welding operations.
• Ability to follow fabrication prints and procedures accurately.
• Willingness to work in an environment with fumes, airborne particles, noise, and moving mechanical parts.

• Previous experience in an industrial fabrication shop or rebuild environment.
• Background as a weld helper, grinder, or general laborer in a metal fabrication setting.
• Experience using overhead cranes and other material handling equipment.
• Strong attention to detail when identifying cutter sizes, sweep sizes, and verifying final dimensions.
• Demonstrated ability to maintain tools and equipment in good working condition.
• Interest in developing long-term skills in welding, metal fabrication, and industrial equipment repair.

This position is based in a fabrication shop focused on rebuilding and repairing industrial shredders. The role follows a day-shift schedule of four 10-hour days, typically 5:00 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., Monday through Thursday, with some overtime opportunities on Friday. The work involves frequent exposure to fumes and airborne particles, as well as occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts and elevated work areas. The noise level is typically high, consistent with an active industrial and welding environment. Team members regularly use equipment such as hand grinders, profile grinders, welders, cutting torches, propane pre-heat systems, air hoists, forklifts, and overhead cranes. The work is physically demanding and involves heavy lifting, metal grinding, and hands-on fabrication tasks throughout the shift.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wilsonville, OR.

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $24.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
