Registered Nurse - IMC Med/Surg

This is a night shift position, working from 7 PM to 7 AM.

The competent Nurse in an IMC Med/Surg setting practices independently and demonstrates an awareness of all relevant aspects of patient care. Provides both routine and complex care, with the ability to manage long-range goals and plans. Develops the skills necessary to cope with and manage contingencies in clinical nursing care.

Meets expectations of the applicable One CHRISTUS Competencies: Leader of Self, Leader of Others, or Leader of Leaders.

Utilizes the nursing process—assessment, diagnosis, planning, intervention, and evaluation—for assigned patients.

Addresses increasingly complex psychological, emotional, cultural, and social needs of patients and families in accordance with their level of practice.

Administers medications and treatments using appropriate protocols; monitors for side effects and treatment effectiveness.

Documents patient history, symptoms, medications, and care provided.

Assesses learning needs and provides education to patients, family members, and caregivers; identifies issues and resources.

Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.

One year of experience in the related nursing specialty preferred.

Current BLS certification required (AHA only).

Current ACLS certification required (AHA only).

Current RN License in the state of Texas or compact.

All newly hired experienced RNs must attend New Nurses Orientation within the first 30 days of hire.
