Operations Yard Manager

Responsibilities Direct daily production workflows from material intake, grading, processing, cutting, and shipment coordination Oversee operational safety programs and ensure OSHA and EPA compliance standards are maintained Manage hazardous material handling procedures and support environmental compliance initiatives Supervise maintenance and utilization of heavy equipment including loaders, forklifts, shears, and facility assets Recruit, train, schedule, and lead operational staff while fostering accountability and teamwork Build and maintain strong relationships with customers, vendors, and suppliers Support inventory management and accurate tracking of ferrous and non-ferrous materials Monitor operational costs and support profitability goals through process efficiency initiatives Lead operational teams while aligning performance with company objectives and production targets Develop and implement operational improvement strategies to increase productivity and workflow efficiency Analyze operational and financial performance data to support decision-making and business growth Oversee project coordination and operational initiatives to ensure timely execution and operational consistency Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support Lean or process improvement methodologies where applicable Foster a culture of leadership, accountability, safety, and continuous improvement Perform additional operational and leadership duties as assigned Required Experience Proven experience within scrap metal, recycling, heavy industrial, manufacturing, or similar operational environments required Strong leadership and team management experience within industrial operations Experience overseeing production workflows, inventory control, and operational efficiency initiatives Familiarity with scrap grading, processing methods, scale software, and heavy equipment operations preferred Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment Experience with financial oversight, operational cost control, and profitability management preferred Excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills Ability to work in demanding outdoor industrial environments and varying weather conditions High school diploma required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, or related field preferred Experience with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies is a plus Ability to commute to Duluth, MN required Benefits 401(K) with company match ESOP participation Health insurance Dental insurance Vision insurance Health savings account Flexible spending account Life insurance Paid Time Off Retirement plan Flexible schedule Salary: $75K Ask for: Brenna #J-18808-Ljbffr
