Project Manager

Primary Role The Project Manager shall have the experience to manage the overall project direction, completion, and financial outcome of assigned construction projects. The PM may also be responsible for directing and mentoring other Project Managers, field leadership of assigned jobsites, and other staff. The position requires business management acumen, proven leadership, organizational and time management skills, as well as strong communication and client service skills. This position reports to the President of Construction and takes direction from and provides support to the Executive Vice President of the associated region. Responsibilities Mentor and develop Assistant Project Managers and Project Managers. Oversee large or complex projects. Coordinate and collaborate with executive and operations groups within Amteck to provide input to company processes, procedures, and objectives. Lead multiple aspects of concurrent projects including cost, planning, scheduling, and supervision of personnel to ensure all financial targets are met. Manage all activities associated with assigned projects: takeoffs, budgeting, procurement, pull planning, scheduling, and production tracking. Manage project related correspondence and documents through designated document management systems. Act as a liaison with the customer and project staff to identify and process scope changes, address issues, and communicate project milestones. Grow and maintain customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and quality of service. Delegate tasks as needed and provide clear and consistent instructions to team members. Create, update, and implement the project schedule through scheduling programs; establish and maintain pull planning sessions. Coordinate closely with Superintendents, Foreman, and other disciplines regarding planning and scheduling tasks. Maintain consistent communication with clients to manage constraints and provide progress updates professionally. Establish methods for tracking work completed throughout the project lifecycle. Liaise with the President of Construction and VP of Field Operations to supervise the lead Superintendent of assigned job sites. Provide problem solving and decision‑making skills to project teams. Provide insight to Engineering regarding design of projects and value engineering solutions. Participate in all applicable meetings: kick‑off, alignment, turnover, status, and close‑out. Prepare PM Summary accurately prior to Project review meetings. Review and analyze bid documents for assigned projects and provide feedback to estimating and engineering. Identify and design Prefabrication solutions and work with the Prefab team. Establish contract budgets when a project is assigned and takeoff is finalized; establish change order budgets when needed. Complete risk analysis of assigned contracts, review and negotiate contracts with customers, and pass contracts to President for final review. Ensure permits and business licensing are in place. Work with project team and HR/Workforce to ensure compliance with state, local, licensing and employment laws. Coordinate with Human Resources to implement manpower strategy and assist field supervision with hiring decisions. Negotiate, review, and approve subcontracts and major material purchases. Provide financial projections, work completed, and progress reports internally and externally. Create project documents in Coins (RFIs, PCOs, RFPs, Submittals, Issues, Risks, Opportunities, Meeting Minutes, etc.). Review and audit field documents: Daily Reports, Safety, Inspection, Test Reports, etc. Establish and implement quality assurance strategy; ensure quality strategy is carried out according to Amteck standards. Review and establish close‑out documents: As‑Built, O&M, Owner Training, Warranty, Extra Materials, etc. Resolve open purchase orders, invoices, and assist with collection on open receivables. Ensure construction projects are completed to job performance standards and codes; hold team members accountable. Oversee materials procurement coordination with approved vendors; review and approve all RFQs for materials and tools. Investigate safety issues with Amteck’s Safety department. Resolve missing/damaged tools or vehicles. Resolve conflict with clients through clear communication. Communicate across departments effectively. Requirements Minimum of 5–7 years of project management experience in electrical construction, industrial and commercial projects. Knowledge of Electrical Project Management, NEC, OSHA, and Safety Codes/Practices. Demonstrated experience managing electrical construction projects ranging from $5M to $15M or more. Ability to multi‑task in a high volume, fast‑paced environment with tight deadlines. Commitment to providing exceptional customer service. Ability to delegate and give clear, consistent instructions. Ability to travel to meet project needs. Strong written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency with construction scheduling software (Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project). Experience with AccuBid estimating software (preferred). Experience with remote project management (preferred). Strong overall computer skills, proficient with word processing, spreadsheet and presentation software, and industry‑specific software.
