Staff Software Engineer, Fleet Optimization

Responsibilities

• Develop algorithms, system designs, and software implementations for optimization and fleet management problems.
• Instrument systems and analyze complex datasets to troubleshoot issues, identify opportunities, and evaluate hypotheses and counterfactual scenarios.
• Evaluate optimization and forecasting systems, including input sensitivity, output actuation fidelity, and interactions with automated and human systems.
• Build, evolve, own, and operate mission-critical tools and systems for continuous fleet optimization.
• Collaborate with Depot Operations, Product, UX, Data Science, and Engineering teams on automated systems, operational processes, and documentation.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of direct coding experience, preferably in backend or infrastructure development.
• Experience with C++ and secondary experience with Python.
• Professional experience building and analyzing quantitative software systems involving algorithmic optimization, machine learning, or large-scale data analytics.
• Preferred experience with multidimensional algorithms, dynamics, optimization, control, operations research, or software design patterns.
• Preferred familiarity with Google infrastructure such as Flume, Borg, Protocol Buffers, and OnePlatform, or equivalent technologies.
• Preferred experience with operations tooling, developer productivity, or developer tools.
• Ability to collaborate with nontechnical stakeholders and take decisive action.
