Senior Financial Investigator

Senior Financial Investigator Employment Type: Full‑Time, Mid‑Level Department: Financial Investigation We are looking for a Senior Financial Investigator to provide legal support and investigative services to a large federal agency. The role requires rigorous investigation, forensic analysis, and courtroom testimony to support prosecutorial objectives for federal fraud cases. Responsibilities Plan and conduct investigations, including quantitative, qualitative, or other analysis of relevant facts. Gather, analyze, and synthesize facts, statements, timelines, scientific, or technical data to advance prosecutorial objectives. Establish and/or verify relationships among all facts and evidence to confirm authenticity and build proof necessary for successful litigation. Develop and analyze evidence from investigators, law enforcement officers, and other sources, including primary and secondary information. Prepare results to support the mission and provide analysis relevant to violations of federal law, such as money laundering, wire fraud, mail fraud, bank fraud, health care fraud, procurement fraud, and other federal program fraud. Identify sources of information and multiple variables to build investigative cases. Conduct asset investigations, verify employment, and perform financial analysis to determine potential monetary penalties. Develop understanding of applicable federal, state, or local law to make sound decisions on direction and scope of investigations. Devise methods for obtaining, preserving, and presenting evidence most effectively. Collaborate with assigned Paralegals, Legal Assistants, and supervisory attorneys to determine statutory and regulatory law and identify possible violations. Perform ancillary services in direct support of assigned cases and matters. Use electronic databases to identify assets, documents, and other physical evidence. Prepare interim and final reports on the progress of investigations. Assist in filing and analysis of documents and physical evidence, and creation of charts, graphs, videotapes, and other audiovisual materials for use in motions and at trial. Prepare affidavits and testify in court as required. Advise on methods for planning, scheduling, and conducting investigations and identify resources that may be required. Examine books, ledgers, payroll records, cost reports, billing statements, invoices, correspondence, computer data, and other records related to transactions, events, or allegations under investigation. Qualifications Minimum of four years experience in planning and conducting civil or criminal complex investigations concerning misuse of public, private, or insurance funds. Working knowledge of investigative techniques, including use of commercial databases and other sources of information. Valid driver's license. U.S. Citizenship and ability to obtain adjudication for the requisite background investigation. Desired (Ideal) Experience in law enforcement. Experience in analyzing, organizing, and presenting large volumes of data using common software programs. Experience in reviewing and understanding financial records. Experience in interviewing potential witnesses. Prior experience with the United States Army, Department of Homeland Security, or other large federal agency.
