Construction Management Inspector (Asst. CE)

Seattle Public Utilities (SPU) is looking for a Construction Management Inspector (Assistant Civil Engineer) to help deliver the infrastructure that powers healthy neighborhoods and resilient communities. In this role, you’ll inspect and support high-impact construction projects, collaborate with industry experts, and solve complex engineering challenges. As part of SPU’s Construction Management Division (CMD), you’ll oversee the quality and compliance of critical capital improvement projects - from drinking water and drainage systems to wastewater and utility infrastructure. Working alongside engineers, contractors, inspectors, and community partners, you’ll help ensure projects are built safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards. Qualifications Education: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology; or other combinations of education and/or experience which provide preparation to do professional civil engineering work. Four (4) years of Construction Management experience. License, Certification & Other Requirements Current Washington State driver license to operate city vehicles to visit construction sites. You will be most successful in this role if you possess one or more of the following: Experience in construction management Education related to construction management or civil engineering Experience interpreting construction drawings, as-built sketches and other source document materials related to utility infrastructure Excellent verbal and written communication skills Additional Information Work Environment/Physical Demands Most work is performed at construction sites Field assignments may entail exposure to all types of weather, traffic, hazardous/toxic substances and work in or near construction sites Must be able to lift over 50 pounds.
